Udogie and Porro is very attack minded and has Udogie ever played LB before?
I like the idea of VDV in a more defensive left back role similar to Dan Burn at Newcastle .

Very attacking indeed. And probably what Ange wants.

Players will fuck up this season. Spurs will still probably concede many goals, but I think Ange will play the squad that he thinks can score the most goals.

I would prob keep Dorrington around and give him a full season in the u21s this year. He was mostly playing with u18s last year and then broke through in to u21s towards the end of the season. Can always reassess in Jan if he's playing really well

Letting them both play a season together in the U21s/U23s wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

18 is still a babba for a CB........ Even though Phillips has a presence about him already.

Just think it makes a team too predictable when 90% attacks all start from one flank.

As I said in another thread; if Klopp can play balls-out attacking football without using a stay-at-home FB/wonky system then solutions can be found.
Yes, it can be argued both ways. Klopp solved that Alexander-Arnold & Robertson bombing forward conundum by essentially playing 3 DMs in the centre of midfield. It's only when Thiago arrived that they had a top passer in there, and he stayed deep & put his foot in too.

The challenge is that all those analyses of Ange's Celtic system have 2 wingers staying wide, a CF buzzing around the box, 2 x 8s bombing forwards constantly, and 2 inverted FBs, providing some solididity in the centre.

Neither Porro or Udogie are natural inverted FBs. Their strength is getting forwards & joining in with the attack. For me, Ange has to allow them to do this, or he's wasting their skillset.

Emerson rescued his Spurs career by proving himself a good defensive FB, so he could certainly help form a defensive 3 allowing Udogie to bomb forward on the other flank.

Same principle with Porro getting forward on the right ,and Davies or VDV2 helping to bolster the defence.

We shall see. Perhaps one of the reasons we're rumoured to be in for Kessie is that Ange has decided the solution to the conundrum is to have at least one of the 8s being what bus-conductor bus-conductor would call a "busy c***".. as well as a mobile, disciplined 6.

I may well be wrong.

But I think we'll ship a load of goals if we regularly start both Porro & Udogie in the same back 4 with licence to get forward at all times.

I get where you're coming from here; but it's only Fabhino I'd have gone as far as calling a DM.....

The other 2 were just busy cunts (see below).... Not exactly Maddison's forte; but we shall see.

I'm a fan of Biss as a #8.

As an aside; I'm not a massive fan of trying to break VDV into two different roles so quickly into his EPL life...... I'd much rather let him get properly up and running as an LCB than have him chop n' change between CB & LB.

As you say though... We'll see what hand Ange plays soon enough.

Specifically on VDV2, it's possible that we're puling the trigger to ensure we get a left-sided defender in asap.

If Kane is sold, some of that cash is used to secure Tapsoba.

If Kane stays, it's possible we go for Laporte, who won't cost as much in transfer fee, although his wages will doubtless be huge.

In that scenario, Romero & Laporte would be 1st choice CBs. VDV2 could be eased in playing at LB occasionally alongside Laporte , whilst learning the CB position as he plays.

Laporte does seem quite chatty, so I could see him becoming the organiser at the back.
