I don't know much about Veliz, but I saw a bit of him in the U20 world cup.

Good in the air, looked a goal threat. Not so involved in the buildup. I can't say he looked a superstar like, say, Aguero at that age, but he made enough of an impression that I remembered the name.

I like that they say he's a strong character, has scored in the big games. That will stand him in good stead coming to England at such a young age.
Honestly, a good fox in the box who can head and hold up the ball is a great profile which we don't have in the squad.

It's nice to have some variety in the style of players at the top end of the pitch. This is why Haaland made a difference to City, he offered something the other players didn't have. Makes it easier for the manager to come up with a plan B.

I imagine we thought we could negotiate for VDV whereas Brentford have made it pretty clear they weren't going to.

As I mentioned before. I think Raya was a Levy choice. HG, last year of contract, probably thought it'd be cheap.

VDV is probably more in line with who Ange wants.

But a month ago they allowed the player to come here and show him around the training ground and talk personal terms. A selling club doesn't normally allow that if a price hadn't already been agreed. Back then every ITK and media outlet said the deal was agreed, 30 mill pounds, practically here we go.......now, one month later, we are still negotiating and the price has gone up to 43 mill pounds

Meanwhile we see links to Tapsoba, Guehi. Tosin, Anderson, Buongiorno, Schuurs, Nelson and whoever else

Totally bonkers

Has it ever been confirmed that van de Ven was shown round?

I thought his agents/representatives flew in?

I think as Richard Arlison Richard Arlison said. It's also payment structure.

I would probably advise you to stop believing every report you see.

Honestly, if you're not concerned by the fact that we're going to concede 3 every game and most likely won't score a goal all season, then you're clearly a bit of a moron.

I personally struggle to see how we're going to get back onto Europe bearing the above in mind...
Why even say that we’ll concede 3 every game. Even with dier or sanchez or Davies that won’t happen. That’s the most pathetic negative post I’ve seen on here in a while and that’s saying something. I bet you right now anything you want that we will score more and concede less than last season.

There were reports that he personally met Ange and was very impressed.

So like we did with Raya why not move onto a cheaper alternative. VdV has some qualities but he is that special and unique. Surely the data led approach can throw up some different names

We probably are moving onto a cheaper CB, but maintaining our first choice by buying VDV and moving off the more expensive Tapsoba with whom we are linked but with 3 years left on his contract his club seem to be pushing price up....... with no end is sight (so we have no idea if the price is £60m, £80m or what).

Still a few names being bandied round for CB's including Tosin, Nelsson etc, so we see which has the right qualities.

After VDV?

I’d say they are if they shift Tanganga.

Davinson will go, that’s space for VDV.

They need a buyer for Tanaganga before they can bring another CB, surely?

I'd say Rodon would be the more likely exit..... He must be sick of the sight of the place by now. Plus has the better CV (and from our perspective isn't fully HG).
