Finally someone said it. I’m not saying he can’t be our starting 9 this season, but long term, that is a position we must upgrade to really challenge for success at the highest level.
Anyone putting their hopes in rich are surely misguided. The excuse that he play wide is not a great. Firstly wherever he has played he just look a technically gifted player. His control , passing and making runs are such a low standard fir a £6 0 footballer. Secondly, when has played upfront like in the cups last season he stank the place out. Thirdly he seems cry off with niggles all the time.

He’s got a much higher chance of being Soldado than he does of being a top class center forward for us lol. The guy is still a raw ball of clay. And no never in his life will he be as good as Haaland, who is a once-in-a-generation physical freak with an AI for instincts and agility. Nor will he ever be Kane, or Son for that matter, let’s just put that to bed as it’s completely unrealistic.

If he actually becomes as good as Callum Wilson that is in the top 10% of outcomes we can hope for. I’m all for hype and hope but people have gotten extremely carried away.
What are you doing! You have to pretend we have won the transfer window or 9/10 , like every window. Then act shocked when we are crap again.

Last season:
We were 5th highest goal scorer behind city, woolwich, liverpool, brighton
We were the worst defence up to P14 in the table.

Levy should have seen this, got rid of Dier, Sanchez, Rodon, Davies & Tanganga and buy 3 decent CDs. No idea how good is VDV.

With our highest goalkeeper and main creative player moving on, we needed to bring in a creative player so as to spread round the goalscoring duties - welcome Maddison, an excellent choice to replace Kane's assist making and score a few goals. That should help Richarlison, Son, Kulusevski and even other cm's score goals, and hopefully another forward who can also add some goalscoring.

Sure our defence needs strengthening but it would be madness to put most of our funds into buying 3 good CB's, 2 plus Phillips to come through in time if we are lucky is more realistic

We haven’t signed the ‘best players’ since Gascoigne and no amount of your denial and kisses changes that.

Edited to add: The proof on Klinsmann was in the price we paid — less than half we paid for Gascoigne years earlier.
Saldado, gio, tanguy, all these were meant to be ballers, at the top of their game, it’s not our fault they failed. Perhaps the scouting. We have a history of decent level signings and prospects flopping. Bale was a good punt, but they clearly don’t often worn out. It’s not exclusive to us though. Every club is riddled with similar stories.

Would you rather one £120m player on £400k p/w, or three £40m players?

Personally because of the low success rate I would prefer more, hoping one works out.

I liked his comments surrounding, not having to spend fortunes, which is music to someone's ears.
But he also said, that sometimes you do have to buy top talent, which is also correct.
The club hopefully will eventually, get it right between, when to buy those players that add stardust to the team.
We seem to invest quite a lot in talent, much like a chef, you can have the best recipes but if the ingredients are shit it’s always going to be rank.

I know our scouting department has had a revamp but I would rather invest £10m in the best possible system than piss money down the drain on dross

If we don't replace Kane's goals by what you're suggesting and if we don't improve our defending, we can find ourselves not far from relegation zone. That's the reality of the situation,

Ange's attacking football or high line defending is suicidal with current personnel . See Barca 4-2 loss. It doesn't work, hence cautious boring football from Jose & Conte, both are top managers.

It won't be madness to fund CDs when you look at last season's table, 63 goals conceded in the top 14 teams, second worse is 58 goals.

People need to chill out. Orban is an exciting prospect, but is raw as hell, and there are significant challenges he’d face adapting to the PL because of his size. To compare him to Haaland is nuts.
Size don't mean nothing... In fact smaller guys are more prolific scorers than your big beasts.... Aguero, Salah, Linekar, Henry, Allen, even Son etc, etc, are 20 plus per season, Vlahovic got 13 last season, Ferguson... Just headers, I was merely saying Orban has the potential to score goals.... Haaland and Drogba were the exception rather than the rule for a big centre forward... They were/ are special... My point was that for less than 30m...we can get a guy who has the potential to bang in 20 plus per season for what is today, very little money and he would fit the Ange system beautifully. Your points though are good on that he may have to adapt a bit which is true, I just think we couldn't get better for the money with a the inflated prices at the moment.... But let's just hope and pray that whoever we buy is an Ange choice and not just an ENIC way out.

Just some of the points he made in his last press conference but no, I haven't seen/read him state that he wants to prove that he can build a CL club that rivals the establishment.

My assumption is that his first aim is to beat Brentford, and for the season get into a position in the PL table that equates to having European football, which is nothing new for us.

I haven't seen or read anything about his aim for the long term, heck he might not even still be here next season, judging by Levy's form for going through managers.

He said sth like, there are a lot of good players and the difference between them isn't huge. It's about finding players he can see playing in his system.

Then he said something like, you see the crazy prices going around but you don't always need to spend that to get good players. Then referenced Madders without paying OTT.

A big reason for those 68 goals was because we invited pressure by sitting back and not pressing, at least with Ange ball we'll be playing most of our football in the opponents half and not sitting on top of our goal marking space.

I guess you didn't watch the Barca game?

Until we subbed off players for kids and the rest of the team ran out of gas, Barca were never scoring 4 goals.

Even then 3 of the goals came from Reguillon and Dier. neither of them will play much or at all for this this team.

I take you point that we might be open to the counter but not because of the example you gave.
