We have been collectively gaslit into believing that getting £100m for Kane isn’t enough to sign a top attacking replacement. It’s just horrendous what the top brass serves up to us.

We have? (It would be better if you stuck to speaking for yourself and let others do the same)

I'd say - £100m in the pocket or not - finishing 8th and not having a recent trophy haul to lean on means that "top"(*) attacking player won't find the prospect of joining us this summer particularly alluring.

(*Again, I find myself curious as to what "top" specifically means in such comments.)

.......FWIW; I don't recall Levy saying a damn thing.

...........Personally, I 'm suprised Maddison (a top, EPL-proven attacking MF btw!), chose us over Newcastle, but I'm extremely thankful that he did.

Ange rolling out the same old shite we've been hearing for years.

Convenient excuse. I reckon maybe Schuurs comes in late after we flog Davinson and that's about it.

No marquee signing. No attacking upgrades.
I mean, there is some truth to it in this case. Think of all the players still in our squad which are potentially surplus to requirements, especially given no European football...

Lloris
Reguilon
Hojbjerg
Sanchez/Dier/Tanganga (obviously at least 1 will stay, but still need to move a couple on)
Sessegnon
Spence
Ndombele

As for statement signings, I do think Maddison is kind of that.

I'm not saying we shouldn't bring any new players in, we should. But it's important to keep the squad at a healthy number to keep morale high. Part of the issue with Chelsea last season was the massive squad led to a lot of discontent.

So in answer to the criticism of Levy outers not attending protests , in all seriousness this is my own perspective

Rational people know that hate and physical threats etc are not acceptable , I would never be part of or approve of such behaviour . There is no excuse pure and simple .

I also know that Levy is not going to be swayed by peaceful protest , if Gold and Sullivan faced down aggressive vitriol from West Ham far in excess of anything Spurs fans might care to do , ENIC will not cave in to few Levy out chants , no matter how many sing it .

So the ENIC defenders will call out quite rightly people who advocate violence and threats , then also try and ridicule those who know that chanting outside the stadium is a waste of time so don’t bother .

So actually venting on the forums is our only release in reality, why would I waste 2 hours before a game on something I know that will be as effective as a chocolate fire guard

EDIT : So there is your Catch 22
One is totally unacceptable with an alternative that is totally ineffectual

Everyone should be able to vent. But lets also try and turn this on it's head a bit.

Do you have a partner or a close friend?

What would you say to them if they were constantly venting about the same thing relentlessly for weeks to you?

Surely at some point you would think it was appropriate to say hey, look, I get what you are frustrated about and it IS frustrating, but the venting clearly doesn't make you feel better and perhaps it would be a good idea to figure out how to get from how you are feeling now to what would make you feel better about the situation? Changing the narrative and putting in some positive actions might give you a better perspective.

Why is Levy and ENIC determined to set us back further and further is the question I want to know. Since we have moved into the new stadium it is like they are trying to make us worse and help devalue the club. Something is going on, it isnt just incompetence, it cant be, now it just feels too calculated but makes no sense.
I agree, it is very strange.

The lack of seemingly any urgency from the club in the market since selling Kane is beyond alarming.

Big squads are an issue. I said at the start of the window and we should be looking at 22 of a first team squad with the best younger ones added to that if needed. The unrest a big squad brings is not an easy thing to manage. You definitely can’t have the ones that aren’t involved training with the ones that are because they’ll fuck about and bring the standard down because they’ll not be bothering their arses. Chelsea’s dressing room was poisonous by all accounts last season because of the numbers.

It makes sense to get these players that we are trying to offload out but what’s frustrating us is we lose our best player for big money and people want an instant replacement. It’s not that easy though so we have to be patient. Come the end of the window and we don’t have a few new faces then the shit will hit the fan.

I mean it’s been a week since selling Kane and fuck all has happened except for constant news from club sources (including Ange) that they need to shift players before buying

I know I’m stating the obvious but it makes sense that the club is working hard to get the best offers possible for our outgoing / surplus players. I expect that the last few days of the window will be very busy and loan heavy.

“Lazio are close to signing Hugo Lloris, Inter Milan are pursuing Japhet Tanganga, Rennes are working on a deal to sign Tanguy Ndombele and Real Sociedad are negotiating the capture of Sergio Reguilon.

‘The senior quartet have all been told they are free to go by the 1 September cut-off by chairman Daniel Levy after talks with Ange Postecoglou.

‘Tottenham are working to reshape their squad following the club-record sale of Harry Kane. The prolific striker won’t be the last of the big names to go, with deals advancing for those not key to Postecoglou’s plans.”

Levy 'green lights' four Tottenham exits with £55m flop 'seduced' by reunion with former manager

It's not a new story.

Some of these players have needed to be moved on since Jose.

I'll be honest, Postecoglou's quotes don't give me any confidence that they will get any out the door in time to bring new players in.

Then to make matters worse, it looks like Davinson will be one that gets an offer accepted and leaves late in the window. This leaves us with Dier as our 3rd CB which last season cost us points.

We are very attractive club for players to choose. We are in London a very attractive city for players to come too. We pay well. We have been in the Champions League numerous times even reaching the final in 2019. I do not think it is a surprise that Maddison chose to live in London over Newcastle at one of the largest best supported clubs in the world.

I am starting to wonder if you are troll or you do not understand how big a club that you support is. No Player would choose to go live in Newcastle over Spurs if the conditions were equal and even slightly unequal positions they would still choose us.

So the ENIC defenders will call out quite rightly people who advocate violence and threats , then also try and ridicule those who know that chanting outside the stadium is a waste of time so don’t bother .

It should be universally condemned..... The fact that you wish to make that comment is rather telling.

Gentle reminder (god knows it never sinks in):

Anti-bullshit =/= Pro-ENIC

LOL.... You massive shithouse.... "Links don't mean anything"....... You just proved everything about you in our earlier talk about twitter 100% spot on.... I specifically ref'd Dav and you've just done the exact same thing again regarding the very same player!

Meanwhile the manager speaks and you flipantly dismiss his saying that we should see more movement (today's comments) and that there should be more incomings (Sunday comments).

Poor, poor show, fella. :avbnaa:

be forewarned, this is some of the most nothing ITK i've seen in a while, but at least it's something to read on another slow transfer day.

From a rushed conversation with Gawain.

We are pushing hard to get 5 or 6 out, but as expected it isn’t easy. There is solid interest in 2 and medium interest in 2. A couple more we would like to leave but no tangible interest yet. Would like to bring in 2 or 3 before the window closes, but not completely confident we’ll get them over the line in time. One CB, one winger and ….. I don’t remember the position of the other one. Sorry.

I feel like we have quite literally heard this exact quote every single window for the past 15 goddamned years. I get that shifting unwanted, spoilt players is tough. I get that they have high wages and may not want to leave the cushy confines of Spurs Lodge and London.

But FFS can we maybe realize this and plan for it? Every year it’s August 20th and we just finally realize that we may need to take a hit on squad players to sell them. It’s a joke.

What do you mean by plan for this? Do you mean release players?

Exactly. The conspiracies are laughable when the more likely explanation of incompetence is so much more likely and reasonable.
Could it be a concoction of incompetence coupled with ENIC resting on their laurels as we’ve now moved into the new money printing machine stadium which means they no longer have to put in as much effort for one field success? (Not that there was ever any major effort from them, but there is an argument to be made that is has indeed decreased in recent seasons)

Agree on the past Kane. We needed to get past that stage.

We should though have identified a successor and last season showed that whatever qualities Rucharlison may have, scoring goals does not seem to be one of them!

But yep, now we are in a Kaneless era but for fcuk sake that is not to say we should also be in a strikerless one.
Us spending a whopping £60mil on a backup-striker to Kane, probably tells you everything on who the club had identified as Kane's successor!?

I have a hard time seeing Levy spend £60mil on a backup-striker, but that's me!
