Son is not a specialist CF and neither is Richarlison. Both are best coming off the left. That's my claim. If you're happy going forward with those two and adding no one after selling Kane then I have no problem with that opinion. The Club should think differently though if they are serious about rebuilding the squad.
What is this fixation with getting a specialist CF. Just because we had one doesn't mean we need one going forward. We're playing a completely different system, for pete's sake. Not every team has an out-and-out CF and even fewer have a quality one. City didn't until they bought Haaland and they still scored for fun. Woolwich doesn't have one and that didn't stop them from challenging last year. Barca played without one for ages and they still dominated.

What we need is a system that will get us goals. So far we're not doing too shabby and the system hasn't even clicked yet. So don't get your knickers in a twist about it.

2 games, 3 goals, 1 own goal, 2 of our goals by defenders...we need to pull our socks up and bring in a striker pdq...I think that guy from Forest looks excellent...

I don't get why teams aren't bumping the prices up?

How is any Ligue 1 club selling Brighton a CM for 16m euros after they just sold Caicedo for a prem record??

"Ahhh, that Brighton algorithm that's earning them a fucking mint on quick player turn-arounds has got us on it's radar............ Quick undo your trousers and bend over, chaps."

How is it a farce?
  • We brought in Maddison.
  • We replaced Hugo.
  • We bought a promising partner for Romero.
  • Dav has shown he can be a serviceable backup in this system.
  • Perisic played in his correct position is a quality sub on the left.
  • Solomon is the tricky winger we need on the right.
  • Our midfield is exceptionally strong.
  • When you look at the bench there's quality there.
Is the jury still out on Richie? Yeah, it is, but Ange wants to stick with him, so that's good enough for me. Would it be nice to have another quality winger/forward that is a goal threat? Of course it would (and maybe Gil is just that - we don't really know). But has that prevented us from creating chances and scoring goals? No, it hasn't.

Would it be nice to have another cover CB that is better than Sanchez? Sure. Can we live without one until the next window? I think we can.

So how is all of the above a farce? Because we haven't signed enough players? This is a rebuild and we're not going to get all the pieces in one window. Even Ange said so himself. Nor do we need them given the amount of games we will have this season.

So let's have some perspective, people. It's a long process. If we get someone else in by the close of the window, great. If not, enjoy the progress we have made for now and let's re-evaluate in January and next summer.
Leaving the sale of a club legend off your list... Cheers Dan!

Farce -

a comic dramatic work using buffoonery and horseplay and typically including crude characterization and ludicrously improbable situations.

Horseplay?

I know his contract is up next summer and this will be our only chance to get a fee for him, but if we don't bring in another quality CB, then I think we should keep him. He's the only other CB we have capable of playing a high line. As Airfixx Airfixx said, if we lose one of Micky/Cuti and have no decent backup, we're fucked. Much more so than if we lose a midfielder or a forward.

I like the player but surely he has to want to come here if we agree a fee Etc

Or at least we can convince him he’ll get plenty of game time if that’s his concern

I just can’t understand why we wouldn’t go for a top drawer centre back now though.
I mean, surely we have the financial flexibility to finalise a deal for Tapsoba now?
A centre back list of Romero, Tapsoba, VDV and Davies would be very very solid for a season with no European football.

Tosin is just so meh. We can and should be aiming higher.

No striker we buy is going to replace Kane - there's a reason that many call him either one of the best or the best striker in the world, and that is he score goals consistently every season at a higher rate than almost anyone else.

I suspect the reason why we bought him is he recognised the need for a good striker, and despite looking round extensively decided Richarlison was the best available. Its similar this window, I've seen people mention Lukaku, Vlahović, Martinez, David, Toney, Orban et al, and to be honest I don't think any of these are world beaters. So if we buy a striker I'm pretty sure I won't be that excited by whoever we buy.

We have bought Maddison though and I think he will help replace Kane - gets a fair few assists (Kane has been one of our most creative players as well as a goal scorer) and maybe a dozen goals a season. IMO no single player will replace Kane, its going to be a group of players who each score a few goals, whether they play as a forward, in midfield or even in defence - and given the number of chances created with Angeball that isn't so far fetched

Angeball generates more goals from more players.

I’d expect more goals from our midfielders and fullbacks than usual.

Madders scored 10 goals and 9 assists in 30 PL games for a club that was relegated.

I would expect better output under Angeball so long as he stays healthy this season.

I can't see what's taking so long for players to leave on loan.tanganga and reggie and possibly parrot or Scarlett should be loaned out by now
It can be that Spurs want to sell them rather than loan them out. Apart from Scarlett, none of the other players you mentioned will ever be part of Ange's plans anyway.
Of course, you also have L & L "factor" that other teams have to deal with - and I am sure many clubs wanna shy away from negotiating with those 2...

CBA with you. You will just tell me I'm foolish again because we disagree.

Who is the bigger fool? The fool or the fool that spends time arguing with him on a football chat forum?
This time I will not tell you that you are foolish. Just that you are knee-jerk and a bit too emotional. Your prerogative. But it will do you a world of good to relax and let things play out. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
