The last couple of summers we’ve managed to loan out our unwanted in the last couple of weeks of the window and I expect the same will happen this time around. Annoying as it’s just kicking the can down the road yet again and not bringing any fees in, but it is what I am expecting to happen.
For 50m I expect a somewhat finished product rather than potential.Nice pace. Decent shot (first time shots too rather than dithering on the ball).
I can see there's something to work with there.
tbf Brennan Johnson managed 8 goals and 3 assists in 38 league games as well as a couple of cup goals. That's a pretty good return.
Thing with Johnson is he’s not that different to Son but will never be as good as peak Son.
Current version of Son with some confidence is still better than Johnson’s ceiling.
For 50m surely the scouting can be a bit more imaginative?
If he’s really what Ange wants then fair enough but until that happens, Johnson is just an uninspiring rumour.
It is ok to be worried/concerned.
Look, fair - I should have put it a different way - if we don't get the players id like ill be disappointed but I'll still feel positive about the season and the project we are embarking on.

I doubt you'll find a single poster that doesn't have concerns about our trf business in one capacity or another.
How those concerns in turn manifest is the root to your complaint here....... It needn't be a mystery...... It's been explained in good faith many many times but some people insist on melodrama and (politely) a fevered sense of imagination regardless...... And a significant degree of bad-faith debating at times too.
It's poignant you mention the ENIC thread cos far too much of the venting that goes on in this thread would be far better off in there..... That way those that are sick and tired of that shit tainting every discussion can just avoid it...... And btw you might not have noticed but a lot if people (myself inc.) avoid that thread altogether in acceptance of it being such a space.

Maybe, but Doku is that and City are paying 50 millon plus.
Does anyone believe we’ll spend that on him? Someone said 8 goals 38 games is a good return for a winger but I think we need at least double figures at worst for that position. We are goi g to create loads of chances this season and we need our wide guys to really contribute with goals because we don’t have a striker that can score 20 goals a season now.
Also, you do realise that the post I responded to you called a selection of the member of this board a 'gang of defenders' so while I do appreciate your feedback on my post, perhaps a bit of self awareness could go a long way

I will be largely positive too whilst knowing the squad depth isn't there.
Ange is making it much easier to enjoy Spurs again.
The frustration is that we've seen this movie Soooo many times.

But Levy will dither and not bring in the required quality.
A few weeks in, Romero goes down and we are back to Sanchez/Dier starting.
It just gets tiresome.
And therein lies the difference. One injury to Son or Rucharlison and we are in trouble.
The squad la ck goals. It's simply naive and dangerous not to see it and we lack cover, so whilst we can't just buy without moving players on, it is the least risky optipn by far.
We sold a 25 a season striker and have replaced him so far with zip. Danger signals right there.
Here’s the crazy thing. I agree with you. Even if I think the club would have let down another manager and the fans if that happens.
I’d still be positive about the season with these players and Ange. It is possible to observe our owners behaviour, criticise them, and still be positive about the team.
Exactly the way lots of people see it but don’t want to be accused of “throwing their toys out the pram”, or get called foolish, stupid, irrational etc for posting it.

For sure - it is frustrating.
What are your expectations for the season?
For me - top six finish and a cup semi-final at least seem reasonable considering where we are today as a club.
It's a shame that is where we are but with a new manager, new players many of whom are quite young I think that is a pretty fair expectation. ANother CB and Forward won't increase my personal expectation but it will make me feel a bit more comfortable that we will reach it.
