Seems to me that, if the article about Ange and Gabbiani working together is true, maybe one of the request was a direct winger who can run with the ball at speed, who is a big threat in behind the defense, and can chip in with goals and assists from out wide. And crucially he’s someone who makes a lot of off ball runs to open up space and stretch the defense.

The Johnson profile actually does seem like a good fit for the team on paper. It’s just that the further you get away from the pitch the better he looks, and that always worries me in a player.

Spending 40mil on him is not expensive compared in real terms to Soldado, Janssen or N'Dombele.

The kid is super quick, a ball carrier and adds goals and assists.

Trust in Ange!
 
I think there have been some good points raised about whether Johnson is a good fit for us. I’ve followed him for couple seasons now he was seen as a top talent a few years ago then Forrest snapped him up and he’s done well for them when you consider his age, performance in the championship and first season in the prem.

For me, regardless of what I think, the only thing that matters to me is.. Does Ange want him? If the answer is yes, that makes him good enough for the team in my book. I only care about Ange approved players being purchased I don’t care if I know them or not! I’ll get to know them under Ange, I trust him to bring in players that will work in his system and I trust the system!

The amount of players out is worrying for Ange. He will probably end up using players he doesn't really want to use.

Ah, I've misread your post. I thought you had said he'd end up with players he doesn't want to use, not he may end up playing players he doesn't want to use.

I don't see see that problem happening to be honest. But football is a strange game. I think everyone he wants gone will be gone (maybe the exception of Dier, who I doubt plays another game for the club again)
 
Why do you search for winger (Johnson, Pepe) when you have Son, Kulusevski, Perisic, Solomon, Gil, even Richarlison and Porro. Does that mean one of them could go (hopefully for me Perisic hehe)? Just wondering.

I agree in as much as we need goals.

In that sense I am baffled if the rumours have substance.

Or we want to get what we can whilst we continue to look for a striker im slower time, which is risky but at least suggests a plan of sorts.
