That's less than Sessegnon, Richarlison, Gil, Moura and Porro, to name some less than stellar members of our non creative squad.

Would be brilliant on set pieces, or if we wanted to Karate kick any opponent like:Heard he leaps like a... gazelle. Would be good for set pieces.
That's all fine, and correct as far as it goes.Porro had sold for 8.5m in the summer window just four months earlier. Man City had a buyback clause at about 17m which they chose not to exercise. He was playing in the Portuguese league. That probably tells you everything about his actual value when the window opened relative to his insanely high release clause — not unusual in the Iberian leagues where clauses are, I believe, mandatory. As another example, Marcus Edwards own clause is set at 50m!
January is a notoriously difficult time to do a transfer regardless. Clubs fighting for honors and still in cup competitions are loathe to give up their best assets.
Just about everyone is overvalued. The previous January we were the only top club, I think, that improved (with Bentancur / Kulu). Of course, this is completely lost on most fans who just want shiny new things.
Wiggy had not signed a new contract and showed absolutely no inclination to do so. Anyone who has read his resume or with the slightest hint of common sense knew he wasn’t going to. Our personnel were wedded to his system which had every chance of being useless by the season’s end unless we brought in a manager who played a similar system. He, himself, insisted on getting Porro as the key to his system. Personally, I was overjoyed that Levy wouldn’t pay the release clause and expressed those reservations in the dedicated thread. There were probably three other dissenters and I can name two of them, I think. The rest of the posters clamored for ‘the bald cunt to just pay the release clause’. The rest of the transfer was, as you suggest, farcical but not for the reasons you give. Levy, Parataci and his team should have stood their ground instead of half-heartedly backing a manager they didn’t trust (rightly) to stick around and massively overpaying at the end of the window as a means to appease him.
No glory for Levy, on a fool’s errand , I agree but equally for the ‘Back Wiggy’ fanboys on social media and here that pressed for the transfer.
Quick, tell the scouting team or we'll miss out.Feel like we should be in for Kudus for that price. He can play as an 8 or RW, and Paul O'Keefe said a few weeks ago that the club would like a player who can cover both those areas. Seems like a no-brainer
Exactly what I’ve been saying. His data is not great, he plays in a counter attacking team, has only pace from what I’m told and no real quality on the ball. How many of his goals last season were from breaks? Just dies t add up us wanting him. This is what worried me about Johnson from the get go. We aren't going to be playing that way, a lot of the time we have the opposition pressed into the final third. Which doesn't seem to be playing to Johnson's strengths.
They all got caught with their pants down again as Troy Parrott slipped out of the door.
Playing in a much better attacking side. Take Johnson's goals out of the side, his team scores 30, take Gakpo's out they still score 68.Gakpo scored those 7 goals from 1400 minutes Johnson his 8 in 2900 . Similar goals in more than twice the amount of time.
Rather go with Scarlett.
If we end up with Johnson while Kudus isnt that much more expensive, it would be a huge fuckup
Levy'd
You know what, perhaps no clubs are coming in for Dier, Ndombele because they take notice of the negative comments, amd I mean very, very negative comments and criticisms made about them by Spurs fans.
Doesn't sound like we should be spending £50m on him if we're not sure about that.I suspect our hope is that we can take his ability to break the line but perhaps reduce the distance he runs, with the view to there being more passing options open to him, as all our players will be higher up the pitch.
Here’s hoping he actually knows how to pass when the options are available.
Ffs so is kulu! We are not a kinderdarden. So are you saying we buy any young player even if they are not good and just give them a chance. The player has to fit the system and also have good technical ability. Not sure Johnson meets either of those requirements. He's just 23 for fucks sake give the poor sod some time to develop.
Your the sort of fan who wants a player fully developed at three years old.
FFS get real and understand the game of football outside of video games.
I don’t think the plan was to sack him but to show he was being backed and desperately hope he would stay .That's all fine, and correct as far as it goes.
But there was no point in hiring Conte in the first place if you weren't going to properly resource him.
To properly resource him six weeks before you sack him is total incompetence. And an echo of Poch's demise, of course.
Thats because Liverpool have have better attackers than Gakpo, so he plays less games. Who would Johnson get ahead of? Is he better than Salah or Nunez or Diaz or Jota? He wouldnt get a game at liverpool and he shouldnt at spurs either.Playing in a much better attacking side. Take Johnson's goals out of the side, his team scores 30, take Gakpo's out they still score 68.
I think the more pressing issue is that he’s grabbed control of the wheel.

For whatever it's worth I agree the plan was to continue with Conte until the very end. Because that, the thought ran, meant keeping Kane onside.I don’t think the plan was to sack him but to show he was being backed and desperately hope he would stay .
Wiggy played him and sacked himself.
If we don't want to wait for Toney, he may be our best bet ??Risk needs to be priced in.
Lille paid €27m for Jonathan David from Gent so they obviously feel that’s a fair price for a player who has scored more goals.
Supply and demand will be at play here. If we feel that another 30m gets us a player who is ready for the next two seasons instead of several years of development…
Or you could look at it this way: we bought 3 quality starters in key positions that needed upgrading/filling and a good bench option in Solomon that did very well in the PL in his stint with Fulham.Doesn't sound like we should be spending £50m on him if we're not sure about that.
I'm starting to feel the rage coming on at this point tbh. Bought Maddison, Vicario and Solomon in the first few weeks of the window, and in all the time that's passed since it's just been VDV. Now we're supposedly trying our best to buy fucking Brennan Johnson. What the fuck are they doing all day?
We need both but not a wide player. We need a CF as rich is not up to it. People have go about criticising him but they need to wake up. His not sniff goals out, his not gonna provide assists and his not gonna create goals out of nothing by himself. His last season at Everton his tally included a few pens as well.Agree and disagree. Yes, we need more depth at the back but how many goals have the front line scored?
