Actually the payment terms for the player we sell them is NOT important for FFP.

What is brought into FFP is the annual amortisation - so if tyhe player sold was valued at £15m on a 5 year contract it would mean £3m pa amortisation in year 1 but £50m profit on Johnson

P.Groves just now as Villa concede to Burnley:

"Pathetically weak defending from Pau Torres"

He was shit against NuCastle too.

Big brave trf though. 💪
I think a lot of people are eating humble pie on Torres - even those who knew he would be unsuitable must be a little surprised by how unsuitable he actually is to Prem football. The bloke is slow and weak.

Emery knew both Prem football and Torres very well before purchasing - would love his thoughts

Or sell us Johnson for £50m now with the understanding they will spend £10m on Dav/Dier spread over 5 years.

Sales count straight away for FFP whereas purchases can be amortised. Spurs get a £40m deal and Forest can show £48m profit in year one

Yeh, these so-called swap deals don't actually appear on the books as such unless it suits both teams to do so... Otherwise it's 2 separate transactions.

It's a bit naive to suggest that the striker we put up top wouldn't change the way we build up in the final third. If we had a massive bustard like Lukaku up there you can guarantee we'd be putting in far more crosses, if Kane was still here you would see interchange between him and Maddison.
Ive not completely written off Richy but his lack of involvement in shots is as much if not more down to him having an average to poor touch, not great in the air and not an especially gifted dribbler or very quick. If we were to set up just to feed him in the box we would get far less team goals, we need either Richy contributing more with 3rd man runs and offering a meaningful presence in the box, or replace him with someone who can offer that.
Richie is a menace in the box and one of the reasons why so many spaces open up for our other players. Once teams stop focusing on him as much, he'll get more service. But he needs a run of at least 8-10 games. Can't write him off after 3.

Johnson isn't a particularly exciting signing (and £50M) seems a bit steep, but, my hope is that his pace will really help him shine in Ange's system, and playing alongside a higher calibre of player overall will help make the most of his qualities.

The only question marks over GLC are from TFC posters. I doubt he'd be in Ange's plans if the manager had question marks about him.

As for Skipp, what should we do? Sell him and keep Højbjerg? Or sell him and Højbjerg and buy someone else (who would also have to be HG)?
Worse than that, Skipp is our only first team club trained player (bar the third choice keeper). We could only register 22 players.

Emre's recruitment at the scum was pretty bad...... Maybe he needs a strong DOF by his side? Monchi was getting mad props at Sevilla; I think that overlapped with Emre's time there.
