Re: Tierney/RSociedad

It was a loan. So rather than a matter of trf fees leading to them not sign Reg; seemingly they just opted for the better player or the two loan options..... Which is completely understandable from their point of view.

It seems likely that after last season's ridiculous transfer splurge, Forest need to generate some pure profit for FFP reasons.

Selling Brennan Johnson is the same move the Boehly Chav Consortium are making: selling HG players to generate pure profit on the books.

If this is so, then surely Forest will not want us to include players in any transfer package, because this would reduce the amount of profit they can record in the accounts.

Whereas we are surely highly unlikely to pay £50 million in cash for Johnson, and will only do a deal if we can include players as part of the deal.

So this may come down to how desperate Forest are to sell Johnson.

Could buy Johnson and sell a player in separate deals. They amortise the player (say 10mil) over 5 years so 2mil a year on the books, then 50 profit coming in.

Ange being a big fan of Johnson makes me want him even more now.

At this point we just need to trust him - he's earnt it. This is what backing is even if it's not your desired player that you want.

I have no clue who’s gonna play vs Fulham now. Sanchez Lo Celso Hojbjerg maybe Dier Reguilon all possibly involved in transfers.

Have we actually heard anything concrete on Hojbjerg and Lo Celso? I thought Atletico Madrid were poor and the Lo Celso chat was bollocks?

Our midfield against Fulham is bound to be the one that ended the game against Forest

By "this" you mean Johnson?

As for Muani............. Much like all the Tapsoba-talk for much of the summer; I think it's a leap to call Muani "elite".

Bearing in mind "elite" players are high profile enough for even a casual fan to know about; who do you realistically think we should have targeted?
Yeah, Johnson, if we got him for £35m I'd be unbothered either way, but £50m is a pisstake. If that's what it takes to get him we should just forget it, save the cash for some other player in Jan or next summer.

I'm not advocating for Kolo Mouani either, I'm just saying I don't see a clear and obvious upgrade over Son in Brennan Johnson. I personally would have gone in hard for Bowen early in the window (probably wouldn't have been possible but worth a try).

If you want a specific name to go for now instead of Johnson, who might come for under £40m, I'd say Pedro Neto. Not a great finisher or crosser, but is otherwise so so good. Lighting fast, good touch, can turn with the ball, retain possession high up the pitch on his own against multiple tacklers, good one touch tiki taka play, and has energy to run around for 90 mins.

Under Nuno they used sit deep and hoof the ball into the wings in the 90th minutefor him to chase and hold the ball, just to cling on to their slim lead. He did it so so well.

Does everything Johnson does, but with that little extra bit of technical quality and finesse that catches your eye, expect the shooting...

Unless we think Ange told Ali Gold this, we’d have to assume this was fed out by the club.

Ali G isn’t one to just make stuff up.

Ange may be into the idea of Johnson but also feels like a signing of convenience as well.

Feels a bit like club PR hiding behind “Ange’s top priority” because they know the fans would have been hoping for more after selling Kane.

None of them look like direct replacements for him?
Hudson-Odoi is the other one they’re closing on. It was reported the deal is very close Friday. I said similar then, pointing out that with him there’s a direct like for like replacement, and in addition they’ve already signed Elanga, both right footed pacy wingers.

This feels like they’re getting their business done ahead of the big fee coming in.
