About trimming the squad, I firmly believe Perisic will be released if Johnson comes. Win win situation for club and player and obviously you have problems with five more players who should go. My guess is: Lloris, Perisic, Ndombele for sure. Doubt Hojbjerg would go.

We are playing 1 game a week all season effectively and Bentancur returns in a couple of months, that's 5 midfielders for now and 6 by November.

Levy hates that we have a good midfield with a bit of depth for a change.
For a start he ain't English. But he is HG and if we qualify for Europe this season we need a few new HG players.
He has scored and assisted in a tough league for a not very good team.
Nah we definitely need at least 1 midfielder if that happens. There's no guarantee that Bentancur will be the same player he was when he's match fit, who knows how long that could take.
True, the 99 % figure most likely was exaggerated but I do believe Romano - and other sources - who reported about serious Spurs interest.
But, as has been mentioned, Spurs may see Johnson as priority and did not want a straight loan (maybe),

If anything he's underhyped. No-one really rates him, but scouting departments obviously do.
That'd leave us with
No recognised #6 outside of Bissouma (Who leaves for the AFCON and could miss potentially 6 games, I say no recognised because Skipp has yet to actually play there under Ange in 7 games inc pre-season) and midfield options of Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison, Skipp, Bentancur, Lo Celso (2 of which disappear to Africa in January).
We would have to get someone in, in my opinion. I imagine we may go big for Connor Gallaghe
Yeah I’m sure a skillfull, intelligent player like eze who’s particularly strong at running at players with pace is going to be lost playing LW, just because it’s not exactly the same as LM. Pretty ridiculous to suggest there’s a significant
difference, especially as one managers 4-3-3 can be completely different to the next managers.
He’s played 1/3 of his career out wide, spending on quality players who can play more than one position is only beneficial to us.
They can have him on a 2 year loan until the end of his contract for all I care.
