Sure, maybe 2/3 of them could, but to expect so many to repeat it is extremely optimistic. E.g. Bentancur scored 2 Serie A goals in his 5 seasons with Juve but you're citing a half-season where he managed to score 5, an outlier. You might argue he was playing a different role but surely he's not gonna play such an incredibly attacking role for us that it makes that stat worthless. In any case, he'll be out till Jan/Feb, if he even returns to his old self.

You're also expecting players like Emerson, Skipp, PEH to score a few when they most likely will get the most token minutes at best. BTW, Skipp has scored only one competitive goal in his Spurs career.

That's just asking for too much from too many different players.

First and foremost I'm looking at the system we're playing now which will have 2x 8's being much more of a goal threat than our central midfielders were last season - even though Bentancur still managed to chip in with decent numbers. This also extends to our inverted wing backs and wide forwards getting to the line and cutting back low crosses.

Bentancur will hopefully be fit before Feb. Not sure on his progress but have seen some pictures of him running. I would expect him to play where Sarr has been rather than where Bissouma is. He might not get the 4 goals I suggested but it's quite a realistic target to set him.

Emerson, Skipp, Hojbjerg & Sarr combined I suggested 1-3 goals. They already have 2 between them with 35 games to go. Whilst Skipp only has 1 senior goal to his name, it was a corker against Chelsea that mattered putting us 1-0 up.

I know the point you are trying to get at - we can't rely on those players to score goals and win us games which I would agree with. Though the numbers will add up, wherever they come from, and I do think being around the 70 goal mark is achievable without Kane.

Not sure if Son / Maddison or someone else takes our penalties yet, but that's another 5 or so goals to add on to whoever takes them this season.

Only about 3/4 teams score more than 70 goals in a season in the PL, the people arguing with me are suggesting that players like Biss, Benta, Udogie, Porro etc. all simultanously match or exceed their best league goal tally in a season. All the while expecting the front line to haul a respectable 30 goals between them.

Prolific WBs rarely score 5 goals in a season FFS.

Udogie scored 5 in 35 and 3 in 33 as a teenager. My call of 3 was pretty modest.
Porro got 3 in 15 for us, 5 in 29 for both clubs last season. I put down 4.

The numbers I put for the players you mentioned were all lower than their previous tallies.

What's naive is to act like removing Kane's 30 goals makes 70 become 40.

Don't waste your time. I've offered a paltry £20 wager that we'll score 70 or more goals this season and he's too chicken to accept it. Shows you all you need to know about how confident he is in his assertion.

The only players we've managed to shift at this point are the easy ones. Kane, and Spence. All the ones that require work and are going to be difficult because they're not good enough are still here.

I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow, but it's not the exodus we were looking for.

The highest earner at Brighton makes about £90k per week. Half the team makes less than £30k.

Do you honestly think Brighton will pay the bulk of a loanee’s salary of £230k when Mitoma is making £10k? I’m sure that’s going to sit really well in the dressing room.

I don't. But I also don't think that Barça can afford to pay close to half his salary. So I'm leaning towards the fact that Brighton are footing most of the bill because he'd be on a one-year loan and not a permanent signing. That might help it go down easier in the dressing room.

Is it really though?

We have a bunch of players that have been performing poorly with their most realistic chances of getting first team football being taking big steps down in terms of club stature and salary.

If you're Dier, Reguilon, Sanchez, Ndombele etc, taking a move to a Fulham, Galatasaray, Genoa or whoever comes in will pretty much end your career at the top level. Professionals ought to believe in their own ability and ought to hold out for what they think is best for them - but no half decent clubs in Europe will want them... but you never know who Atletico Madrid might throw a lifeline to I guess.

As we all know, clubs will speak with players or their representatives about potential moves before even tabling an offer. I know it's trendy and easy (if not lazy) to just blame Levy - but I'm blaming the players for being so fucking shite that no clubs they would want to join are getting in contact with them.
Then I blame their agents for not being the salesmen they require.

If Levy is sitting there rejecting bid after bid for these players that have already agreed in principal to join other clubs that's a different story, but I really don't think that's the case.

People have been sat for the last 2 or 3 summers (as far back as Toby, Lamela and co's exits) convincing themselves that our deadwood was gonna net us circa 100m at some point...... Even people that would in another breath say they were shit champo cloggers etc..

It was always a pipe-dream; particularly once covid his and crippled most of Europe's leagues outside of the obv. likes of RM, Barca, BM etc.
