Ill tell you what.

You list me all the attacking midfielders we signed from other prem league clubs, just relegated or otherwise, during Poch's time at the club.

We didn't sign a player exactly like Maddison so therefore it proves we could never have signed Maddison. Sparkling logic, you're really good at this.

We had Dele and Eriksen under Pochettino, so no we weren't going bid for a creative mid, nor do under the radar players like Maddison pop up all the time. That and we were on our austerity drive to pay for the stadium.

The profile of the club was absolutely at a point where we had the pull to sign him. Its genuinely fucking baffling to pretend otherwise unless you're on some sort of mega propaganda drive to pretend we were nothing pre stadium complex ... oh wait, my bad.

Maddison's profile pre being signed by Spurs was more akin to Clint Dempsey than it was David Silva. Certainly somebody like Van De Vaart was a higher profile of signing, probably even Eriksen given he'd done very well in Europe and was courted across Europe.

Well, the good news, I think this is the longest transfer thread we've ever had.

i must admit a part of me wants to see us sell Dier, sanchez, Reggie, hojbjerg tomorrow and sign no one. Sitting on a transfer window profit.

Just to see the reaction, and how/if levy justifies it since he can't lean on Pat anymore

sue makes stuff GIF
He'll use Simon Jordan to pedal bullshit on talksport about how smart a move it is. Jordan will tell everyone only he knows it's smart because he's the smartest man alive and none of us have ever owned and then lost a football club.

Then the Levycocksuckers on here will go into overdrive about how everyone else is bent but we're a bastion of honesty and fair play.

Gallagher and Johnson are proper 2010 midtable club signings, both will be very underwhelming.

Technical players elevate the quality of the team, we have already seen that with Bissouma and Madders, I don't understand why Ange wants the club to spend almost 100m on those 2 donkeys.
Gallagher and Johnson aren't donkeys and would both do well for us in Anges system and both are home grown premier league level players. Saves us clogging the squad with others who are not good enough but are just HG.

Gallagher as an 8 is better than Skipp and possibly Sarr although I think Sarr might have a higher ceiling. I really hope we don't see him as a 6 though.

Johnson really isn't as bad as some are making out. If we was signing him after the back of his championship season we would be saying go get him. He is rapid and aggressive with it can use both feet well and gives us a completely different option.

Both players work hard off the ball too and considering there age have a good amount of experience.
