Clearing out Sanchez and Ndombele for actual fees is absolutely the right choice for the future and would set us up really nicely going into January.

Of course it’s a risk in terms of depth, but I’m content to ride our luck knowing we’ve got one game a week and this almost guarantees us buying a CB in January.

Also doubly pleased if it’s partially due to Ange liking the looks of Phillips and Dorrington.

New rotation probably: Romero/Phillips/Dorrington and VDV/Davies.
By the time we have subsidised part of Ndombele's wages to go the net fee receivable won't be that large, but sure be good to get him off the wage bill for good - and the Spurs food bill will go down too.

There is no way on earth that we walk away from the Ndombele nightmare with any semblance of a fee.....

It's an exercise in loss limitation at this point. Nothing more.

Even if we get rid without covering his wages it's been a massive result.

Anything that means he's gone for the next 2 years without covering 100% of his wages is still decent.

If Ange is right, and Phillips is good enough to back up Romero, then what a signing that is for us. Couple of million for a 3rd / 4th choice CB in the prem is a crazy good deal.
To add to that, while it's quite rare, it isn't unheard of for an 18 to 20 year old CB to be able to make the step up to some degree. Gvardiol is 21 and has already played 2 full seasons for RB Leipzig.

not dubious just worded in a way that offered you an opportunity to delve into the semantics and pick peanuts out of poo just so you can achieve what?

Dubious is kind..... False is perfectly accurate too.

X says Y lots

Is vastly different to :

Z once said W "might" happen.........

What did you get out of this exchange?

I dunno... What do you get out of all these imaginary scenarios you cook up and present as fact?

Wait so we needed to sell a CB in order to get one in?

But now we are happy to sell without bringing one in. Why doesn't it work both ways?

My fear is this is a way back onto the bench for Dier and all it takes is a couple of injuries...

Why not just sell Sanchez in Jan?

Back in the late 60's/70's one of Spurs best ever CB's was Mike England who picked up a bad injury, out for most of he season, and in those days no real depth of squad.

Up steps an almost unknown signed from a non league side aged about 20 and Peter Collins played that full season winning the League Cup along the way

Fingers crossed if its required, But I'm sure Phillips was on the bench v Burnley for a reason

Squad numbers look so much better next year with Winks, Sanchez, Moura, Ndombele, Lloris, Dier, Forster, Tanganga, Perisic, White gone. Hopefully Spence, Reguilon, and Rodon all impress on loan.

Including Kane, if all those players are gone, it’s almost £1.2m/week in wages cleared off the books. I’d also be backing departures for Hojbjerg (100k), GLC (75k), Davies (80k), Sessegnon (60k).

Maddison is likely being paid quite well, probably north of 150k/week but I’d doubt any of other signings got huge contracts.

While we could have definitely been better this summer, I understood the constraints of squad size, homegrown issues, and it being Ange’s first window. We’re setting up nicely to be able to be really aggressive in January and next summer. I’m going to be livid when Levy inevitably fucks it up.

Only just had a look on this thread as I couldn't face it Friday evening/Sat morning and pleased to see there are (hopefully) more outgoings, whether loan or permanent. I'd forgotten other windows closing later.
Ndombele in particular will be a good to get shot of even if only for the year.
