Hindsight is a blessing though, like no one ever thought that he would be available on the last day of the transfer window but that's football. Sometimes opportunities present themselves when you least expect it.

The Fighting Cock is a forum for fans of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. Here you can discuss Spurs latest matches, our squad, tactics and any transfer news surrounding the club. Registration gives you access to all our forums (including 'Off Topic' discussion) and removes most of the adverts (you can remove them all via an account upgrade). You're here now, you might as well...
Fab already tweeted that he’s agreed to come. There will have been some contracts exchanged most likely.
Second window? You sure about that? There's a reason for that though, clubs have PSR concerns therefore taking less risks and thus there's less money going around in the market which was my point all along, I didn't expect Saudi to cut back on spending either tbf.
Seems like on the whole clubs with money now are just being more sensible, even non Prem teams like PSG/Bayern/Real aren't spending recklessly anymore...2/3 years ago those players you mentioned would have been snapped up by someone.
Funny that 2nd window in a row we've had the most expensive purchase of the window.
23/24 Sterling (League Only) 12 G/A IN 1992 mins = goal contribution every 166 minsThe main problem with the Sancho/Sterling discourse is that we went and filled up that potential spot in the team with Timo Werner and I don't think we ever considered another option. Ange saw him last season and thought 'ye this'll do for another season' and that was that, If we had sent him packing and waited maybe we could have had a shot at one of the two but I don't think we wanted to risk being left with no one.
Where can we read the terms of the option on Cardoso?
Seems to be fairly big discrepancies between how it’s been reported and nothing official is out yet?
From the consensus of what’s been reported, we have a year to either buy him for €30m (which looks an unbelievable price) or we get a -% of the sale if we don’t buy him.
But based on the type of player he is, the need we have in the squad, and the fact that Biss and Bentancur both have a year left next summer, it looks like barring unforeseen circumstances we have got our man and a player who’s statistically and physically the perfect fit to refresh the senior CM spots.
How’s that demonic?
You think his the players and his agents never gave their consent and the club want to be humiliated by a potential rejection?
Mate I watch La Liga and I’d never heard of him. Admittedly never watched a single Betis game last year though.I shall be monitoring the Betis games with great interest from now on. We all look good on YouTube but he looks even better. An absolute powerhouse.
Strange that 99% of us had never heard of him even though he was nominated for young player of the year in La Liga.
Thought He was American but happier now that I know he is Brazilian. Just born in the USA….but he’s not called Bruce.
Oh right. I guess you can probably claim that.
Here are the player I saw had been linked to Spurs by different media outlets for this 2024 summer TW.
And, before anyone think I believe Spurs were after all these players: no, I don't! I just posting this to show how the media love to link various clubs to player for the sake of click baits (but some - or rather a few - of the links are, of course, genuine)

United is a cesspit.
He may have joined an even biggest cesspit at Chelsea, but if Sancho had joined us he immediately become our best right winger and would be straight in the starting line up.
No, it isn't. If Cardoso comes in it will be in place of one of Bissouma or Bentancur. Also, this move is a blatent contridiction to recent reports that were plastered all over this forum that Ange is so impressed with Gray and Bervall that he regards them as first squad players - there was no suggestion of them ever being loaned and they're currently getting minutes. They both are analogues of Bentancur and Bissouma by nature of their positions on the pitch so why would a 22 year old Cardosa walk in ahead of them as a "senior CM"? Wtf. Didn't Ange also just litterally talk about the importance of younger players having a route to squad, if Bergvall and Grey didn't have an immediate route they would have been loaned - if Ange is to be taken seriously and at his word then there is absolutely no need for Cardosa whatsoever; both Bergvall and Gray have played in Bentancur and Bissouma's positions twice this season already.
I’ll be honest that was too long for me so I’ll answer as far as I got.I'll entertain the notion that you knew who the fuck this guy was prior to waking up yesterday - maybe you did maybe you didn't lol.
In your words, it's an unbelievable price for a player that we currently need in the squad who according to you is statistically perfect , so perfect the club won't commit to buying him. Apparently he is also capable of replacing Bentancur or Bissouma who sorta, kinda, maybe might be leaving next summer (it would be a club choice, not a contract situation, to let Bissouma go because currently he is not displaying the consistent quality nor the temperament to stay at the club)
My guy, which is it?? You're playing both sides, which are in blatent contradiction with each other, to make this sound like visionary business in the footballing interests of this club and not financial. Do we need the fucking football player or not? Maybe I'm crazy but when a team has current need in the squad they use the transfer window to bring the player in not negotiate a future option to make money on him regardless of whether he joins or not.

But no guys, Cardosa must be one of those betty big bollocks Ange decisions. I'm sure it was ultimately his choice to get an option on a player which flies in the face of his statements & squad selection, who the club would stand to profit from regardless of whether he steps foot in our stadium. Yes, this is all about pushing the starting 11 onto bigger and better things...
And yes, Levy is demonic. This year he is comodifying footballers as futures options inspite of squad needs, last year he was talking advantage of the Ukraine war to get contracted players on a free. He is a fucking parasite to this club and a fucking parasite to footballing integrity.
All three are shite but Sterling and Sancho are out of our wage structureThe main problem with the Sancho/Sterling discourse is that we went and filled up that potential spot in the team with Timo Werner and I don't think we ever considered another option. I think Toney will do a Henderson and go for a year, get bored and then get signed by some top 6 european club.
That's all fine, we are very effective at ignoring fan opinion and signing the bare minimum to stay in the top 6
