How Dry should our Powder be?

I have a sneaky suspicion we'll get Eze, even though we should get Olise given our winger issues and that Eze isn't a winger for our system, and then we'll regret it when Olise lights it up somewhere he moved to instead.

I pray I'm wrong..

ManC front five scored 27/19/11/3/3= 63

Arse front five scored 16/13/12/6/5 = 52

Liverpool’s front five scored 18/11/10/8/8 = 55

Spurs 17/11/8/5/2 = 43

Also creatively:

The XG table is:

Liverpool - 94.79
City - 89.55
Newc- 84.48
Arse- 84.39
Chel - 80.88
Tot- 73.35

This despite being the team with the second highest possession to City and I think (last time I saw it, maybe it’s changed since) one of the top 2/3 teams for touches in opponents box.

We need more/better quality creativity and goal scoring forwards.

The defending side right now needs to be more of a coached thing. Better quality forwards hopefully won’t keep coughing up the ball so often, but also need coaching on how to defend properly, and protect the midfield and the defence better than the the ones we have now do.

Upgrading other positions can be for future windows. For now, get me at least one creative/productive 8, a quality CF, and LF and RF.
Agree with the front 3, in addition to what you have already said, better pressing from them massively helps our defence too.

Personally, I think we need a progressive #6 (that is also solid defensively) than a #8 though.

Who would your pick for #8 be?

People like Wirz and Musiala aren't really realistic, maybe someone like Brandt, Eze, KTHuram maybe? Lower down the list MGW perhaps?

I don't really want Gallagher, especially not for the reported money but I don't hate it if we swap him (HG) for Hojbjerg, Bentancur and Skipp as the rotation squad option - but I don't want him as the fist choice 8.

Can Brandt and MGW even play #8? Thought they were AMs that occasionally play on the wing.

Eze can't play #8 IMO, he drifts in and out too of the game too often.

Think I would rather have Gallagher over Thuram. Thuram is a better dribbler and a bigger unit, but Gallagher is better at most other metrics.

Gio Reyna is a prime example of a so-called wonderkid who does not live up to his early hype. After making his debut for Bor Dortmund at age 17 years and 66 days, and doing "well" for a while he was predicted to become a star. Fast forward ... he was loaned out to Forest, made 9 appearances and is being sent back to Bor. Dortmund.
Dortmund have a track record of making young players look better than they are.

Brandt definitely can IMO, he played there for Leverkusen and has at Dortmund too. I get what you are saying about Eze, but he has played there for Palace and you'd just hope he could be coached - he can also fill wide forward remits too. I'm sure MGW could play as an 8, he's tenacious, with good energy and engine.

I think there's a reasonable chance whoever we bring in for it might need to adapt slightly from an AM type remit, Klopp and Pep often convert AM's to 8's - this is where a more defensive 6 might come in, I just don't see that as a priority this window.

I could see Gallagher doing a kind of Henderson/Rice type job. Not sexy, but could have his uses and would allow us to play someone like Eze in the Maddison 8 remit.

I don't know anything about this Wouter Burger guy so l went on a Stoke forum to see their fans opinion.

They don't really rate him that highly and think he's not worth 12m. They also think Skipp is better than him and his weaknesses are his lack of pace and positional sense.

Think you’ll end up being disappointed. Don’t think Olise has been mooted at all. Have to say though I don’t think Olise Is a winger anymore than Eze is. Olise will always come onto his left infield. At least Eze has fantastic balance to go by people both ways and played LM at QPR. Olise has had Muniz bombing up and down on the outside and taking a man away. Both good players but I don’t see Olise as more right for us than Eze.

If we took out the last five games no one would be mentioning Olise. Had loads of injuries this season and been inconsistent when he has played.

You don’t employ Conte on £15m per season if a) you’re a miser and b) you’re not trying to win something on the footballing front.

Honestly mate you are so, so incredibly naive it's kind of uncomfortable to see.

Edit...Do you think sacking a serial, trophy winning manager with the best cup final record in the game 6 days before a cup final........and replacing him with a young kid who'd never managed a game in his life is also the hallmark of a CEO focused on winning on the pitch?

Option A
Simons on loan - 0-5m loan fee
CHO or Summerville - 25m
Sesko - 65m

Total outlay: 90m

Option B
Eze - 60m
CHO or Summerville - 25m
Gimenez - 30m + Gil

Total outlay: 115m

A gets us a better team this year and still leaves us 60m to spend next summer on Simons or similar.

B gets us sorted long term but possibly a lower ceiling.
