It’s probably his market value but I’d rather we spent that kind of money on foreards that will score us a shit load of goals. Alvarez is a very wasteful finisher. Every time I watched him last season he missed chances

The obstacles we would have luring him would be:
- stumping up the fee to show City we’re serious.
- stumping up the wages to Show Alvarez we’re serious.
- having the pulling power to convince him to join. Our fall off in recent years would hurt us, and no disrespect to Ange but I don’t think he’d have the respect yet that even someone like Pochettino would have in this situation.
He’s the type of player we should be all over if he is indeed available. But unfortunately, I reckon the likes of Toney and Gimenez are much more likely shouts…

There's more to a forward than just scoring goals. Alvarez works hard, he presses, tackles chases lost causes. And he creates chances for others with his activity.
Also, give that kid a starting spot week in week out, have players round him like peak Bentancur & Madders...and I betcha he bags 20-25 in all comps.
Was always gonna be tough for him at City when you see who else they got up front.
That’s my question with Alvarez. Do we start him as a #9? Does that really give us any more presence or threat than Son?
He definitely won’t score as many goals as Son.
I don’t think he’s a winger in this system and I don’t want him as a #10.
Tbh I can see why City are happy to sell him.
19 goals and 13 assists in all competitions last season, many of which were in games where he was playing on the wing to accommodate Haaland, are pretty good stats mate.
He would absolutely explode if he joined a team where he was the main man up top IMO.
They got £30m for Hall from Newcastle too don’t forget. Plus Dortmund would have to pay similar for Maatsen. There’s definitely a world where they don’t have to sell him and can tie him down to a huge contract. Then sell him for much more next summer when they will also need to raise funds for PSR.

Won’t be £50m for anyone they badly need to sell before June 30th. They want a bidding war but Villa have FFP issues, it will be £35/40m. £50m price is them preventing it ending up at £25m by end of negotiations.
