Funny to see things from the other side, Chelsea fans jealous of us getting Solanke of all players.

I mean, they are giving away Conor Gallagher, probably their 2nd best player and a real unifying presence in the dressing room last season, in exchange for a 20 year old striker who scored 8 goals in 34 games last season on loan for a mid table Spanish side. If I were in their shoes and my options were this deal or buying Solanke for £60m I'd probably buy Solanke.

We could buy Sissoko for £100m and still be having a better window than Chelsea… club in shambles- love it
Genuinely is bordering on suspicious now, I honestly cannot fathom why they got rid of Pochettino. Regardless of his Spurs ties he delivered a very significant improvement on both league position and points won, as well as much of Chelsea's best form coming in the second half of the season, which, if they had been judged on form from Jan 1st had them firmly in the top four if I recall correctly. Prior to his sacking I was genuinely worried they were going to give Poch resources and he would start filling the shortcomings in his squad as he did in his 2nd season with us, slowly building Chelsea back to being a consistent champions league side. I didn't see Poch staying more than 3 or 4 years, but I thought they'd back him to be a steadying hand for a few years before picking an ambitious appointment in the mould of Klopp to Pool or Guardiola to City. There's no semblance of a plan there whatsoever, just hoover up as much young talent across the globe as you can fucking find and hope a few of them turn into £100m+ players so you can balance your dodgy books a few years down the line.

From speaking to my press mate; Poch never got the respect he wanted from the dressing room. Players did not like his training methods - focused on fitness and cardio rather than skills. Poch created an atmosphere of competition for places; which put out a lot of players who felt they should be the number 1 pick; and this led to fights between players. They had groups form within the squad that were openly arguing and competing with others - notably the African players grouped together.

Essentially it boiled down to a lot of immature and unprofessional players. Connor was given the captaincy as he was the model professional.

Poch left because he instructed the club that they were 2 or 3 seasons away from building a harmonious squad - and they demanded better.

A lot of similarities with Spurs when Poch came in. We had kaboul, lennon, capoue, adebeyor form a gang within the squad, trying to alienate and keep out the new signings from taking their squad positions. A younger stepped up (Kane > Palmer) and inspired a rebuild.
