No.

Better plan is use Devine and Donley, both of whom I think can play some games at first team level (but Ange needs to agree to that) to play minutes would have had between them.

Neither need to be registered , so whilst we may be one more CT player light without Skipp we replace his playing time with 2 youngsters who may become CT with the right development playing time.

I'd definitely keep them in the first team

And that's where I think things took a turn. I never stated a fear we were signing no-one. I genuinely asked if you thought we'd make, in your words, a "couple of quality signings" in 2018 for comedic effect. The joke might be lost on some but whatever.

I take Ange's recent quote as a man who has got his reality check when it comes to what to expect with how we behave in the transfer business. Some have said it's a spineless back track but I think that's a little harsh.

"I think I said that it would have been great if we had done our business already, but I've always maintained a discipline not to go off and sort of get too emotional through these times,"

Here's where I almost feel sorry for him, almost. This is a "I'm not gonna do a Conte, but c'mon man" cry for help which doesn't make these sudden Solanke talks a coincidence imo.

Considering he wasn't at the Euros and Ange set the expectation for early business, there is no way I'll believe this was according to "plan" or that Levy's plans and Ange's plans even align.

You miss out the point that Bournemouth may not have wanted to sell Solanke at the start of the window.

But they may have been persuaded to change their mind by Spurs and the player - still to be seen of course

If solanke was the plan then yeah why wasn’t it done as early as Werner’s loan and just announced first day of transfer window.

There was another target. Maybe Alvarez? The Copa win, then the decision to back up for Olympics, would have added delay. Then he chose AM anyway so we lost that target, and Plan B gets activated.

Or if not Alvarez then it was someone else that didn't pan out.

If Solanke was the target then he hasn't been away at any tournament in the summer. We could have made that move weeks ago.
What? And have him for the whole of pre season? Don’t be so fucking ridiculous.

It was far far more important to secure 4 more non football events at the stadium.

Get some perspective! What do you think we are a football club?!?’

When you talk about “waiting for the right player” I think this is more akin to what that should mean in reality. Liverpool haven’t signed anyone yet this season but if they get this over the line it’s a signing that instantly improves their already excellent starting 11.

A quality ball playing 6/DM who, sadly, is exactly what we need in midfield. It’s such a shame we didn’t make any attempt to get him.

Don't know what you're complaining about.

The books are currently balanced so we're not gonna do a Leeds! You should be happy.

And maybe Biss has spent the whole summer learning how to play 6 so don't stress.

When it suits Alvarez isn't good enough to play for us and when convenient we might have gone in for him after all.

And guess what guys, if not Alvarez, there was definitely another target, that's definitely why this Solanke business has only started a week before the seasons starts.

A lot of mental gymnastics to deny the obvious.

Oh so we can't wait for the right player but Liverpool can, brilliant.

Let's roll out all the excuses and totally ignore the fact they've waited all Summer to make their first signing yet since Spurs are now singing a striker people question the club's ambition and aren't backing the manager

This place man 🤣

Yeah and we will let in the same amount.
We averaged 1.13 goals conceded with our 1st choice back 4, which amounts to 43 over a season, so just keeping the 1st choice fit (or improving our back ups) should improve our goals conceded by around 18.

That could be further reduced by signing forwards that don't cough up the ball so often and a midfield that isn't sliced through like butter.

That position likely not considered a priority for Spurs after signing Gray and Bergvall.

This signing may well because Liverpool have failed to sign anyone else, and a DM was not their priority whilst a successor for Saha was
