How Dry should our Powder be?

We need higher expectations. Sure it's a "decent" return for a midtable attacker but when the teams ahead of us have RWs putting up 25-30 G/As the gap in quality is clear.

Do you think he will put up those numbers after a year of "settling in"? If the answer is no (which it should be) then we should absolutely be looking to upgrade with the highest quality RW we can attract.

Also stats alone do not tell the full picture:
- Look into the opposition he got those G/As against and factor in the game state - he is not an attacker that the best teams fear
- His all round game is terrible and has a wider impact in how well we can control games (show me the stat for that)
- For all those saying "let's see how he improves this season", sometimes the ceiling of a player is just obvious. It's not a question of adapting to new surroundings. He just lacks the tools to become an elite player. I thought our model was to sign young players with elite potential? It's never happening with Johnson.

It doesn't make you a melt or less of a fan to point this out. It is just frustrating facing another season with a mid-table player as our starting RW.

He wouldn't get near any of the other top 3 squads, that should tell you everything you need to know.
Who has 25/30 GA ffs

Agree with a lot of your points otherwise - his return deserves another season, he impacts the game but is also largely a passenger

Gray and Spence are Porros cover and both will be fine for Europa. There are a few players I wouldn’t even make travel for the ropey league pre Xmas, porro being one, Udogie and VDV and Romero taking it in turns for a week off

In my book we need a top no 6 and RW and cover for GK and a LCB who can also cover LB.
We are obviously not going to do all that in this window but a top RW and a LCB/LB are essential imo

Good luck.

It’s not either/or.

In attack it’s helpful to have different tools. Johnson is great against teams who leave space in behind, or when you’re winning, or against tiring legs. But against teams that are very compact or don’t leave much space then a different player is useful.
he wont be great because hes not got enough about him. pace alone isnt worthy of greatness. youve literally got an example from the previous game where hes had his one use put to use and the one pass he has to get right he gets it behind his man. never going to be great and never going to justify 50m. seen him play enough now to know exactly what he is as a player and it aint anywhere near the standard spurs wanna be.

yea....hes useless against sides pinned in....and what does the manager want to do??

Boy you really look silly now.

Maybe wait to see the response before you prematurely high five your "cleverness."

Johnson is great against teams who leave space in behind,

The top teams are the one's you'll get space in behind against unlike the majority who sit deep, of his famous 5 goals and 10 assists the only one against a top team was against City.

or when you’re winning,
So when the team has already done the job to be ahead and leading he becomes a useful player does he?

or against tiring legs.
As a substitute and not a starter.

But against teams that are very compact or don’t leave much space then a different player is useful."

So against the majority of teams we'll face he's not useful.

What exactly has made him look silly?
