I don't think we need to overload him with mins though, but he's clearly good enough to play some early EL matches, cup matches and partial PL mins.

Side note I honestly don't know why people (not you) are playing down Bergval's ability, maybe it's because of his age and the cost and that he's not an 'established' player but he's as good as anyone to put pressure on Maddison, he's a ridiculous talent.
I fucking loved what I saw of Bergvall so far. He could do a Dele. Easily.

My issue isn’t him getting minutes here and there or being in the rotation. My issue is where the creativity comes from when Maddison is injured for a month. Bergvall at 18 after a full season in Sweden is unlikely to be physically ready for that and it would be very Spurs for us to give him a chronic injury right at the start of his career by overusing him during the first hype.

The way Pep managed Foden early was a lesson in bringing young players through.

Jose player ID (outside of spunking the most money on obviously the best players available in the past - any twat can do that) is fucking woeful.

Still, let's hope he made him a promise to spunk multiple millions of Clubs money on him so we can get rid of the beachball chaser.

Fine but I don't think throwing £70m a potential issue doesn't really do much to address our problems.

I think I said this before but Maddison and Eze are vastly different players anyway, like if Maddison goes down Eze isn't replicating how he plays, can you see Eze collecting the ball of the CB's or the keeper? Can you see him probing and continually trying to play on the front foot? That's not his game...he's a dribbly inside 10 who can isolate a player but the way we play doesn't really marry well with his skills.

If we only just paid the £40 mill!
I legitimately feel bad for this kid, he’s a decent finisher and goal hanger but one viewing of him in the Belgian league and you could tell he’s just way too short and way too raw for top level football. How they got to a £40m valuation fuck knows. He basically runs around with no purpose and shoots everything he sees.

Bergvall will be one of our best signings ever. £8m, what a bargain.

Did he? Because our slump started when he filled in for VDV, and when Udogie got injured and he was supposed to play LB, he was the main reason why we lost the NLD (alongside the referee). I respect Ben Davies, but last season he was absolutely atrocious. I'd keep him only for the random Europa League game and as a dressing room leader, but that's about it.

Extremely harsh to put that slump all on Davies.
He was the best player in defensive line back then.

We lost both CBs+DM with one go.
Yet you make it sound like other things stayed the same and we just replaced VDV with Davies and fell apart as a result.

Raphinia is on Euro 240K a week which is what 200K quid. His Barcelona salary would make him our highest paid player - (1) No way Levy signs off on that wage, (2) No way Raphinia takes a pay cut to come to N17 and (3) in any case, I don’t think he’s worth it.

But something worth noting about our targets.

Neto on 50K a week a Wolves
Solanke on 70K for the Cherries
Eze on 100k for Palace
Doue on 10K a week in France.

Our beloved chairman will only bring in a player already on big wages if it’s a loan - Timo or if it’s on a free - Perisic.

So the Nico Williams, Osimhem- types and even the Raphinia types are not for us.

Rumors about our interest in these types of players can safely be ignored.

I think Neto was worth a shout - yes his hamstrings are made of Swiss cheese but with BJ and Mikey Moore as cover, I think it would have been worth the risk. Anyway rumors that we tried to hijack the Blue Scum deal at the end. IF true, I’m sure Neto had a good laugh when he compared our beloved cheap bald cunt’s offered wage packet versus the wages offered by Chavs.

Clearlake has six players on bigger wages than our highest paid player (Son). They provide a different lesson about owners and player wages - It’s not great to be a tight cunt like Levy but it’s arguably even worse to be stupid 🤣🤣 Long live Clownlake!
I've been saying this for years, but none of the Levy defenders will ever admit.

Ndombele stands out as the one and only high fee + high wage signing we've ever made.

Excluding the players that are crap I still think a LB / RW and keeper are needed.

I fear the games Vicario doesn't play as the options are poor.

LB we have cover, VDV and spence but they are out of position there.

Phillips / Lankshear could go on loan, that would be ok up front, but would leave a gap at CB / LB.

Donely could be in the squad but not sure where Ange see's him position wise at the moment.

RW, Kulu could cover, but then I think we need an AM option, but personally prefer Kulu to cover the 10 with Maddison and Bergval as 3rd option and a new RW come in.

Vicario / ???

Udogie / ???

Porro / Spence

Romero / VDV / Dragusin / Phillips

——————————

Bissouma / Gray

Sarr / Bergval / Bentancur

Maddison / Kulu

————————————

Son / Werner Moore

Johnson / ???

Solanke / Richarlison / Lankshear

I can see Eze receiving the ball off the CBs absolutely. It wasn't Maddison's game before he came here either. I could even see Eze playing 8 as well as 10 and have thought that about him for some time. He's played centrally plenty for Palace, he just has the pure footballing ability to play pretty much anywhere you need him.

I also think he could end up winning the starting role from Maddison for the biggest games, depending on tactical fit. If we want to really challenge we need competition for every position. But we have been through this before.

Let's save ourselves time and agree that a winger with 1v1 ability is a higher priority and we should use Kulusevski as the main AM rotation for Maddison for now if we aren't spending 70m on Eze. I would want us to sign Eze, you wouldn't. That's not a big deal though. I lean towards profile fit in terms of ability to play the way we want instead of profile fit for positional specialism. Obviously there are exceptions to that i.e., CB, FB, GK etc...
