It'll only calm the masses if they actually get more players in though.

Yeah exactly.

Fans are starting to smell a rat. Even the most defensive amongst us will have read that little snippet about Levy on negotiations and felt a familiar twinge of deals being too expensive for our top targets. I know it came from Matt fucking Law but it was actually meant to be a pretty positive spin on that article and the story when you read it comes off like a club brief....

For Doue and Neto we are getting dangerously close to Hazard and Mane territory where the football people loved them but Levy decided they were too expensive.

Don't think we had any chance with Doue once both Bayern and PSG decided they wanted him. Neto is a good player but a sick note, which neither Mane or Hazard were.

"One fine day does not a summer make"

Yeah but we are getting dangerously close to the wrong end of the window where historically Levy's "negotiations" have landed us with players we struggle to shift later.

The longer the window goes on, the more likely the targets are decided based on financials over what the football department has identified.

We are firmly entering the "false economy" days of the window.

Neto could just as easily end up staying injury free.

Who knows if we'd have been able to persuade Doue that he had a better route to regular first team football here. We persuaded Bergvall to choose us over Barca and Dragusin to choose us over Bayern.

I get that they aren't direct like for likes but the point I'm making is that we have seen before what happens to us when we step away from players the football dept love and head towards players that are a better fit financially.

Hopefully this is where Ange stays firm on having "final say on transfers"and vetos anything that doesn't improve us

What makes you think we haven't tried? PSG plays plenty of young players, so I don't see how that'd set us apart.
Mitoma, March and pedro in varying positions up front.
Mitoma doesn't start over Son, Pedro doesn't start over Solanke, March doesn't start period.

it is when you're playing In league 1. Even if he excells it doesn't really mean anything as we wouldn't even be sure if he can hack championship football let alone the Premier league.

We could move him up a league in January if he smashes it but you are right, going to league one likely extends Donley's route to our first team by at least a year. He's just starting now where Devine was last year.

Mitoma plays left wing. He's not starting over Son in a million years.

March doesn't start for us, be serious.

Pedro would have started for us before we signed Solanke.
March is massively under rated on the right wing. He’s better than Johnson. End product and more discipline plus works harder. Could see him as a perfect inverted fullback too.

Mitoma would get plenty of games if he came. 2 seasons ago he was on fire and unplayable. Form can come back.

We don't even know if all the Doue interest was real so we are going off feel. But the fact that Ali Gold, POK and most of the more reliable beat reporters said we liked Doue and the fact that he's now going to PSG for 60m feels very much to me like it was the price that we didn't like, not the player.

Not really.

If he does well, he'll just get called back and sent out to the Championship in January like Devine did last season.

I imagine no Championship club was willing to provide a near 20 year old with virtually zero experience of competitive men's football the minutes he and Spurs would have liked for this stage of his development.

Atleast with 1000+ minutes of League One football under his belt, if he impresses, he'll look much more of a prospect to Championship clubs January onwards.
