Those that we flogged were shit though. And yes we've replaced them with youngsters but they do appear to have very high ceilings so I do think the squad is in better shape generally.

The issue is we have only marginally improved the first XI (dependent on Solanke).

I suppose the thinking is that the drop off should be smaller now when we need to utilise squad players so over a season we should pick up more points.

But without a better first XI you can't go toe to toe with Pool, Scum and City and that's what is disappointing about the window.

Nonsense.

Shit? Let's see what that which isn't shit brings.

You can't lose the three players we have, bring in kids and expect grand improvenent. Absolute fcukng folly unless you are seeing things in Postecoglou that has so far escaped me. He is not Merlin.

Club is devoid of a coherent plan.

We know one of two things will happen though. Either Ange won t get this young squad competitive quick enough and we’ll finish 8th, take some pastings and Levy will lose his nerve as he hates being embarrassed.

Or Ange will get them going, the young players will grow together and we’ll have a young side playing great football that needs a push of a couple more quality players to turn competing into winning and Levy will shy away from taking the risk of buying a Rice or a Van Dijk type.

You don't honestly think that, do you?
Do you think the likes of Ramos, AVB, Nono, Poch were all sacked because of personal embarasment?
They'd all lost the dressing room and we were getting tonked. There's just no coming back from that. The longer the you leave it the harder it is to recover the situation.

I'm Danish, so I'm gonna provide a small input.

Andreas Christensen is not an LCB. When used as CB, he plays on the right in a 4-man defense and in the middle in a 5-man defense. When used in the latter, he can take up a Stones-esque kind of role, pushing up into midfield. The past half season for Barca he has actually been used as a DM.

The point was to enhance the financial value of the club. It's a great stadium to watch games in and seems to generate some more money for players... but it exists to increase ENIC's ROI.
I don't think they have any desire to sell and see any ROI
They're milking the club for it's market value outside of football. It's just leverage for buying and selling etc on the non football business side of ENIC.

If you're planning on challenging this season, yeah. But you guys think everything is going to change in one season. It won't. Unless you're City that can buy a brand new first XI every summer, it's going to take time by investing in youth and sprinkled with players ready to step into the first team. That's how it works, if you want it to be sustainable, and that's how it will always work.

hahaha 23 year old BJ who is a known quantity and whose level is completely clear to anyone with a pair of eyes.
Were people patient with when he was 22 then? Of course not. "Known quantity" he's starting his second season with us, 23 is young, he has plenty of room to improve.
Moore will get patience because he's an academy player, the rest will be thrown to the dogs whenever they have a period of underperformance.

I don't think anyone is expecting overnight change. A plan to compete better than last season yes.

From my mate at the telegraph.

Real Madrid want Romero this window.

Let's see if he's on the bench at the weekend.

They could do it but that will be a plus £100m bid and I don’t see Real doing that.

It would also have to be done in the next few days so we can get a CB in plus anyone else we want to buy with the money.

Not impossible but Real with say £105m bid tomorrow is unlikely.
