Who wants to be realistic?
Why not be excited?
Go and watch a documentary.

Because if you just happy clap anything and everything the club does it's just accepting mediocrity and why we never win anything.

Our windows are never enough for us to compete. Now we seem obsessed with signing kids at the expense of top quality first 11 players.

Of course I am excited by Gray and Berg, it doesn't mean I am happy that's our only business. It shouldn't have been an either / or situation.

It ain't happy clapping. What a dopey thing to say.
I ain't an Eeyore like you and a few on this site.
I am looking forward to this season and reckon we will do better than last because we have brought in a lot of good players to replace not so good players in the squad.
IMO at least a couple of the new guys will become stars.

Fans can't affect anything the owners do and the way they choose to run the club, literally everything is out of our control, vent all you want but it's a pointless exercise.

People aren't accepting mediocrity, they are choosing to get behind the club because that's what fans tend to do.

If fans are so adamant that they want change then they need to do something about it.

I loved watching these two since they arrived, but not in positions that snuff out oppo transitions, if these two are to be tasked with this then they had better do it, if not we are open as Swiss cheese.

Would much prefer to get in an established "busy, nasty little shit" (who can play a bit too) to kill a large enough chunk of oppo transitions this system.
So bring back Vinnie Samways then

Only just managed to catch up with this thread tonight. Some absolutely awesome posts.
Special mention to Aphex . Where have you been all these years my man.

I don't agree with this tbh. It's got toxic at Tottenham plenty of times since 2008. That hasn't really changed anything the owners have done apart from sacking a few managers. The fans and whether the kick off or not have no bearing on any form of transfer management from the club and whoever is in charge imo.

Apart from moaning on the internet, what have you done about not accepting mediocrity? What do you suggest?

Agree to disagree.

Anyway, I am also looking forward to the season, but nowhere near as much as I would be if we'd had a proper window. Now I'm just excited for football, but thinking our chances don't look too good.

The new guys may well become stars, but in about 3 or 4 years, and by then we will need another 6 players to replace the ones who have then moved on, see my point yet? We will end up never actually finishing and building a side. Grey and Berg may well end up like the Modric's and Bale's, surrounded by crap and we end up having to sell them to Madrid.

There is nothing wrong with signing young players, but you need to sign ready made players to actually compete now, not some arbitary time in the future which never materialises.

So you expected we would challenge the top 2 this season?? And the only reason we won't is because the club is too stingy to buy first XI players?

Good grief...

Why couldn't we challenge the top 2? If we actually signed a few top players we could have done if Ange pulls his finger out and adjusts his tactics a bit. The fact you think it's a crazy idea just shows how Levy's running of the club has worn you down. To dare is too dear.

We needed to be doing what United are doing this summer, plugging the gaps with senior players that will improve the first 11, Ugarte, De Ligt, Maz, Zirkzee etc

I think that will be next summer.

The poor finish last season probably hampered our recruitment this window more than we realise. It makes it harder to sell the story of a project that's going somewhere. If the TW had started last November, they would have been queuing up to join.

Even if we start slow this season, as long as we finish with momentum and qualify for CL then we'll be well set up.

You are right we can't do anything. We can and do get behind the club but what is wrong with having a moan about it on here too? As long as people aren't going to the stadium and being toxic, but let's not pretend we are run to compete for major honours, we just aren't. Highest ticket prices in the country remember and look at our window. People start going oh you're always too pessimistic. Nonsense I say it's realism and calling it for what it is. We are a club that never pushes the boat out in a league where all our rivals do, so we are always up against it and handicap ourselves.

It's won us the best run club this week, but it's won us fuck all trophies. Levy in a nutshell.

Anyway going a bit off topic with Levy so I'll stop here.

We don't have crap on the team now, why would we have crap players in 3 or 4 years? Some players will be sold, others will be brought in to replace them, that's how healthy football clubs work.
