Eze has a 60m release clause, which is a bargain price these days. If he is as good as everyone makes out then he should have been bought. Would have walked straight in to our first 11. But obviously there is a budget so couldnt get him and solanke. Hopefully go back in for him next season
As we were linked to him when he came on as substitute for England ( Southgate did not consider him good enough to start) I watched him and he did not impress. So was he a bargain or another potential white Elephant.

Why is there such a strict, rigid budget? The only reason is because we are keeping costs low for a potential sale, year in year out, decade to decade. We could have easily splashed out £220M for those two. Would have yielded c.£80M in CL qualification almost certainly this season and likely the same for subsequent years and also given Ange a chance of actually winning something

Frugal, negative cheap cunts

Pretty astonishing that for him crucial wingers are to our system that we've ended up with our 2 best for the system being young pups from Nottingham and Burnley.

Missing out on Neto is a huge, huge dent in what we needed and could have achieved. I like Johnson and Odobert initially but as heavily reliant wingers at a club the stature of Spurs? No wonder we drop more points than the other clubs in and around our size and quality.

Top 4 best we can hope for with a hopeful chance of a trophy. Wash, rinse, repeat

See this so often with youth players hyped up on here. Usually as a reason it’s ok we didn’t strengthen more. I totally forget about said youth player, then years later usually ends up on a free to Peterborough.
I wouldn’t mind if Enics & levy’s hotspurs were known for their great academy. But that’s another area they have been crap in!
The funny thing as well, is those fans will usually blame a manager for not using them.
As if just playing untested kids makes them fit for premier league club.
And what is the excuse when they don't even make it at Peterborough?

I'm calling this - we dodged a bullet with Neto.
I'd rather have a 6/10 player every week than an 8/10 for 10-15 games max.

What if he would only leave for £200k a week?
£60m becomes £112m

We'll always look at the whole package. What seems obvious to me is we never really went hard. The level of speculation never really went into overdrive.

Yeh it’s very poor at least if you are looking at it short term.

For this season:

Solanke

Future:

Gray
Bergvall
Odoburt

I appreciate some of the future players can help this season but we have to be realistic in terms of consistently helping at elite level. At best we have bought well for Ange for season 25/26.

Players almost always sign new deals for better terms and ensure a higher transfer fee when leaving. Transfer 101.

Bale signed a six year deal or whatever the summer before he went to Madrid.

Eze is better than Zaha.
Bale signed a 4 year deal in 2008 then another 4 year deal in 2010, then another in 2012. He had 3 years left when Real signed him.
He was easily one of the best players in the world at that time, but it still took Real all summer haggling to eventually break the world transfer record to get him.

Eze is good, but he'll be stuck at Palace if they try that.
Players who want to leave are dumb if they sign new contracts. Especially long ones.

I still can't believe how poor our window has been.

We couldn't find a single proven quality wide man to sign? Our attack will be our undoing.

Odebert is way too raw at the moment.
Son is on a big decline.
Solanke who knows.
Johnson is a meek coward of a player tbh, the type of profile of player we should never have signed as he doesn't have the balls.
Signing Werner on loan was just a joke.

I just don't get our window because we simply haven't gone far enough with bringing in proven quality.

I don't know why the club was so umabitious with our signings this summer. To just bring in teengers and Solanke was awful. The first 11 needed proper quality upgrades and we failed.

Our attack on paper now looks one fo the weakest in the top half of the table. Alot hinges on whether Solanke delivers, because if he flops we are quite literally screwed.
