Ex-Spurs Player Tanguy Ndombele

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

You're the mug with the mancrush on him two years later when he's still below Winks in the pecking order.

These two things can be true:
1. He is a very talented footballer
2. He has underperformed for us considering his valuation, reputation pre-arrival and his ability
Is he below winks in the pecking order? Hes started 28 league games this season and Winks only 7. Hes only below winks right now because Masons a dumbo.

This guy play as cam in a 3 man midfield not a number ten or a cm so why the hell we bout him then try to play a system his skill set is not suited for this is what baffles me our scouting sucks

This is looking like he knew something was about to happen...

:tanguyhuh:
Shame he didn't know half arsed performances could result in Sissoko being picked for the French Euros squad ahead of him.

Walking round looking like eeyore putting cryptic messages on Instagram. Rapidly losing interest in this lumberjack.

Current understanding is that both Aurier and Sissoko are leaving in the summer. Those are the players that Ndombele stays with at the club and this doesn't bode well to him remaining with us.

If we can switch out Ndombele for Greilish that would be perfect - but Greilish apparently isn't the best influence in the dressing room.

Ndombele is a bad influence on the pitch.
Dream swap Jack for Tango man.

I don't understand all this 6, 8 and 10 palaver.
I want Grealish to do what Eriksen did.
Ndombele is neither one thing or the other.
Ndombele is a direct replacement for the role Dembele played as the more advanced of a double pivot in a 4-2-3-1.

Mourinho didn't trust him there, but Mourinho is a dinosaur. That's where he should play.

Mason has Lo Celso there, but Lo Celso should be a 10, he's the guy who should be playing where Eriksen played.

That none of Poch, Mourinho, or even Mason seem to agree with a plan that Steve Hitchen concocted does give me some degree of pause, but I still think that's where those guys belong.

Whoever he was bought to replace it hasn't worked. He has played deep, he has played higher up and has flopped in both positions.

He certainly does favour the left, yes. I wonder how you feel about his defensive application.

If he is mainly on the left, but not doing much to help Reguilon, how will you feel about it?
Jack does more tracking back than he is given credit for. Not as much as Eriksen but he is not lazy. And Reggie is not exactly shit hot defensively or busting a gut to get back when caught upfield.
Anyway this is Ndombele thread.

You know, I was trying to work out why Mourinho seemed to favour using GLC as a 6 and Tanguy as a 10, because when we signed GLC, I thought he was a 10. And in the beginning, I thought maybe he trusted GLC to do more donkey work than "lazy" Tanguy. So, Tanguy being the 10 meant we were more secure when not in possession. But then I started to wonder if it wasn't more to do with Mourinho actually seeing Tanguy as the more creative of the two.

Tanguy is the more creative of the two, and can play as a 10. He's shown more goal threat here than he ever did at Lyon, he does have that part of his game. But his highest calling is breaking the defensive lines in the middle of the park and unleashing his passing range in a sudden scramble situation for the defense. That just kills modern pressing tactics and it's so rare that a player can do that.

Lo Celso was mediocre in that deeper role at PSG but his aggression and directness blossomed when he was pushed forward as the central attacking maestro at Betis.

Again, I can't believe I'm caping up for Hitchen here, but Tanguy, Lo Celso, and Sessegnon are three really talented players and helping them come good is job #1 for our next manager.
