I don't think that it is a matter of brains. He clearly has the know how to use his talents based on when he does show up.

Exactly. It's the thing Harry Kane excels at. The self motivating bit that makes you care. Take Bissouma so he's marmite right now poor season, but go look at quotes from him in the past. And he is probably also providing for friends and family as someone else here mentioned. It's no uncommon for players from less well off backgrounds to send money back home to take care of things. And some are even pressured into it to begin with. Adebayor talked about that in an interview I believe. How he fell out of love with football later in his career because his family back home stopped asking about how he was doing and just about how much he was making.
I may be too small-time, but I don't have anyone I'm against be given a player number, other than him.
