Match The Bodø Affair: The Mighty Tottenham vs Bodø/Glimt of Nordland - 2000hrs 1st May 2025 - UEFA Europa League Semi Final Leg 1

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Bodø/Glimt's stadium is not dissimilar to Tamworth's. Small stand (8k capacity) and an artificial pitch, albeit in the artic circle. For once, I am glad the first leg is at home. The temperature there seems to be an average of 3 degrees Celsius at the moment.

I'd take Bodo over Bilbao but other than that our route was about normal. Frankfurt 3rd in Germany and won the EL recently, not exactly walkovers. Bodo beat Lazio, nobody would be saying Lazio was an easy route...

People just saying they should be respected if they got this far. We've definitely lost to worse.

Yes but by the time we actually got to play Frankfurt we realised that maybe being third in Germany isn’t exactly amazing compared to a PL team sitting 15th. Honestly I thought they were disappointing and expected more of a tougher game.

We have artificial pitches at the training centre outdoors and indoors , probably not exactly the same type as at Bodo but we do have the ability to get in plenty of training in on those pitches to get ready for the game , certainly need to be a lot better than we were at Tamworth.

You can't analyse it like that though. Because we beat 3rd place in Germany it doesn't mean that 15th in the PL is better.
We almost lost to Tamworth, does that mean 10th in the National league is 'almost' as good as 15th in the PL?
It was a one-off game where we came off best. Playing a foreign team could work in our favour though, it's well known in England about Ange’s tactics and how to play against them. If foreign teams aren't fully researching then they could come unstuck I guess.

There seems to be some confusion about their 3 ‘suspended’ players for the first leg? Talk the suspensions end at QF? Does anyone know.

No spurs fan is stupid enough to think this will be easy. I’d say at least we’re going there in May and not nov-Jan so that certainly helps but their pitch will be an issue for us, I think we need at the very least a 2 goal lead going there. They could have had a hat full more vs Lazio

The Norwegians will be handicapped going into the semi final as key profiles Håkon Evjen and Patrick Berg will be suspended for the first leg in London as both of them received yellow cards during the match in Rome.

In addition, Helmerson got a red card vs Lazio.

No confusion. It carries. All European competitions have to be aligned. Same was Partey is suspended for PSG game and why Woolwich were worried Rice would get a yellow too.

Berg out is a huge loss for them. He dictates a lot of the play, and is a Norwegian national who works his socks off.

Lazio knew, and marked him very much out of the seocond leg

The fucking misery guts in our fanbase (fan sic) are more staggering.
Bah, humbug!
Bruh you celebrated a VAR decision on a disallowed goal like we fucking scored a last minute winner in a cup final (we were losing the game at the time and Inevitably ended up losing).

Like I said, we should win if we turn up but if you can't see the absolute insanity of posters saying they are already looking at the final and others predicting trouncings then you're the issue.

If you're "100% confident" then that's you mate but I struggle to see where you get this 100 confidence from.

I think we should get through and are the favourites but it's not a sure thing at all.

Read my post again and then get back to me .

Even we couldn’t fail to get through to the second leg in a two-leg semi-final . Having said that nothing surprises me anymore when it involves our Club .

Do we know if we're playing Bodo or Glimt yet?

Joking but that's a fucking stupid name, and we're named after a Shakespeare character!

I thought we were named after a comic ?

In all seriousness; we’re named after a real person and “ glimt “ means a brief dazzling light ( like from a shooting star or a from a firework) in Norwegian. It’s completely dark for months on end in winter so they value that kind of thing.

A cognate word in English would be
“ glint “ “ glimt “ or “ gleam “ .

Bodo is the name of the town .

Think of it as us playing “ Bodo Flash“ ; and then you’re onto something.

You’re welcome.

Spurs beat Tromso (further north than Bodo/Glimt) 2-0 in sub zero temperatures on an artificial pitch in 2013, after beating them in London in the first leg.

So its not impossible, even if Bodo/Glimt are more highly rated now than Tromso was when we played them. But Spurs squad now has better players than we had in 2013

Tromso 0-2 Tottenham Hotspur
