If I Recall Correctly.
Was def 4 losses tho.

Funnily enough, the 'exceptional' I was referring to was our points haul in the 1st 10/11 games... So in a way, it WAS all about results, yes!The first 30% was “exceptional” was it? United 1st half at home we were garbage and should have been 2-0 down. Liverpool home - do you really want to analyse that? And Sheff Utd at home? - that was “exceptional” was it?. It was a lovely start to the season but it had flaws…
And just to put it in context in case you think I’m unreasonable and all about results - the 1st halves against Villa and West Han at home we played truly exceptional football and they gave me far more encouragement than some of our turgid home wins against Brighton, Bournemouth etc..
MOMENTUM! We don’t have any…
So you think the 8th most valuable club in the world and 4th in the premier league - and that was before Haringey council announced 3 days ago that the stadium can now hold 30 non football events vs the previous 16 - shouldn’t be seeing 9th as an abomination??9th is literally half way between relegation and winning the league. Some just see it as half way to relegation and start melting and moaning and calling for mass sackings. That would be a glass half empty mindset, don't you think?
It was poor but lucky to keep his job is ridiculous. It was his first season and he did well the other 10 games and finished 5th.40 pts in 28
that's 54 pts over a full season
Last season that would have put us in 9th place 2 pts ahead of Spam, 5 ahead of Palace.
Pretty atrocious. Really, Ange lucky to keep his job with that form for 3/4 of the season
Because our 5th place finish was largely due to the incredible start to the season when we were a surprise package.
Our performances tailed off massively after the injuries and once the league figured out Ange's system. We will not have that advantage this season.
We have not upgraded the first XI in any way and likely start the season with Kulu as our number 9 which is, frankly, ridiculous.
You're just illustrating my pointSo you think the 8th most valuable club in the world and 4th in the premier league - and that was before Haringey council announced 3 days ago that the stadium can now hold 30 non football events vs the previous 16 - shouldn’t be seeing 9th as an abomination??
Ange himself has said repeatedly he’s come to win stuff and be a true success. Here’s a clue - 9th place for 70% of the season doesn’t get you that
OK I'll rephraseIt was poor but lucky to keep his job is ridiculous. It was his first season and he did well the other 10 games and finished 5th.
After finishing 8th and losing his best player.
60% of the squad actually. We had 15 all injured at the same time.
It’s EXACTLY a reaction to a friendlyIts not a reaction to a friendly is it? More like 20 years of watching teams put out by this ownership
I did say as things stand. Of course it's premature as the window isn't closed yet.IF.... Maddison can't bounce back
IF.... Bentancur can't bounce back
IF.... Bissouma can't find consistency and avoid further silly red cards.
IF.... We lose VDV again for a significant chunk etc.
IF.... Richy continues to fail to stay fit
IF.... We don't sign anymore players
IF..... None of our young squad improve.
.....And IF those around us make a few headline moves.
Then yeah; we'd have probably gone backwards..... Premature call in the meantime however.
Ah so switch the manager again. And again and again and again. That will work. Coincidentally how long were Pep, Klopp and Arteta in jobs for?40 pts in 28

To be fair, the improvement came when we brought the youngsters on, along with Biss.I think that's just the way things are nowadays. Everything is so reactionary. I blame twitter.
The future was amazing 2 weeks ago after we beat hearts and QPR, these kids were going to be incredible, get them in the first xi NOW. Now we're back down to earth and they're probably not going to be as good as what we have now. As usual it's very likely to be something in-between.
Fuck me, the post about bringing poch backthat really is never going to go away is it. Still it's a better shout than I saw on another forum I used to go on, some cunt wanted lloris in as player manager after Conte lol.

It sounded like I wanted him fired. I didn't. Managers need 2 seasons minimum unless we're in relegation zone like Ramos.
Whilst I feel Poch should have been backed properly, no way would I have him back. He went to Chelsea, he’s dead to me.That 5 game loss streak from last season still concerns me. Players looked shagged out and they did 1st half today. Way we rolled over to liverpool away and chelsea away last season was so spursy. My thinking if it goes tits up early in season get poch back. Tbh he deserved rebuild like he said back in 2019. He we are in 2024....rebuilding!
THIS! - he’s shown no signs of being ambitious with youth thus farI did say as things stand. Of course it's premature as the window isn't closed yet.
Not sure there is much reason to expect some incredible bounce back from all of these underperforming players. Just blind faith.
I'd be more excited if I thought Ange would take a risk with the youth and actually give meaningful minutes to the likes of Bergvall/Moore/Lankshear but again we have very little evidence to support that.

First I need to correct myself on my last post (not my original, the one you failed to read correctly) and say it wasn't the worst run of form during the PL era, it was on par with the second worst, the worst was 5 losses in a row, we managed 4 in a row for the first time in 20 years, so something to be positive about hey?
IIRC....... 4 losses in a row...... Our prev. EPL record was also 4....... All-time was 5.
If you want a good look at our young players it’s worth watching. And definitely worth seeing Porro’s goalSo I was out at a show and missed the game. Is it worth looking for a replay or just wait til the rematch?
