Competition The Non League Football Thread ⚽

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Globalization of football. Most non-league clubs have the support of a very small, very immediate community. Clubs like Hashtag and some others are built on the idea that they're not limited to that immediate local community.

Is Azpilicueta still one of the owners? Scum.
I detest Hashtag Utd.
They ground shared with Haringey briefly, paid a lot of rent ,but thought it gave them the right to run things.Wanted to change the name of the ground and everything.
Their fans were everything i hate about modern football as well.

Nice, enjoy!

I'm off to Wealdstone Vs Crawley this evening.
Be interested in your take on Crawley. The starting XI that won promotion has been completely dismantled. Only 2-3 of the regulars still there. All the star forward players gone. Expect a number of triallists. I have a ST there for next season so God knows what I’ll be watching. Could be a painful season. Manager Scott Lindsay is still there and seems very decent. What he did last year turning an almost-relegated-to-NL side to promotion winners is nothing short of a miracle.

Finished with a 1 nil win for The Stones.

I thought the first half was poor from both teams, although at HT some Wealdstone in the bar thought we were great as it was nil nil against a league 1 team - I don't agree, both teams looked like they didn't know what they were doing to me.

Second half was better for Wealdstone, playing at pace and looking to win the ball back quickly, helped a lot by Crawley bringing on 5 or 6 'trialists' with around 20 mins to go.

I don't know a lot about Crawley, however, the few supporters I spoke to afterwards didn't sound too impressed or hopeful for the upcoming season. Owners mentioned as the problem.

One of the trialists for Wealdstone this evening was ex Spurs player Anthony Georgiou.

Stones manager Taylor's time as head coach of the Spurs U18s, maybe has something to do with this.

That is the general view but slightly harsh given Crawley are very much non-league size-wise (I remember them getting to the Conference being an utterly massive achievement) and their owners have just taken them to L1 via their first ever Wembley appearance. Clearly miles behind in terms of preparation for the season though.

Disappointed in this. I'm not going to subscribe to DAZN for $30/mo, not worth it. I guess for the National League it's good to get some guaranteed income and maybe DAZN is a logical partner
Post from one of the Stones Directors on the Wealdstone Forum...

There's a call with the National League this week to explain how the deal works and what it means for clubs. It looks like the National League TV streaming platform is migrating to DAZN too but there is a 3rd party called 247tv who are doing all the filming.

DAZN only have around 100,000 subscribers in the UK, the vast majority of them are boxing fans as the UK sports rights are very limited. So National League football is not really going to be attractive content.

It will be interesting to see how both the National League and DAZN plan to monetise this.

My initial thought was that this is good news for those looking to 'stream' games whether legit or otherwise. Guess we'll know more in the next couple of weeks.

Yeah, I guess looking back I was paying $28.45/mo for Natiional League TV. But I got every game and the lion's share of that money I assume made it to the clubs. Now I'd have to pay marginally more and get some additional content (which I unfortunately wouldn't get to utilize much - just don't have the time to watch as much boxing anymore), but not much of that money will end up going to the clubs.
