The pious bullshit has to stop

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Fact is, what can you do at football? He's right, you can either sit down and shut up or sing. So how exactly are all those blogs and 1882 and the rest of the suggestions deemed redundant when ALL you can truly do at football is stand up and sing. That's the only option, isn't it? Aside from sitting down. So asking or telling people they are better off being vocal in a positive way...fucking hell, we aint reinventing the fucking wheel are we? Just stating the obvious.

Last year someone posted a comment on my blog (I have one you know) that said he had his time standing and singing and was now taking his son to football and wanted to sit and didn't welcome all the noise and the standing up. He completely missed the fact that his counter point was a contradiction. So it was suddenly okay for him to take away someone else's enjoyment?

We truly are over complicating matters here. Shame the lower tiers in football are not standing blocks.

This blokes been trolling for a couple of weeks now, he showed what a complete tosser he is the day he asked sammy outside.
I understand your reasons for wanting to boo though, I just don't see what you hope to achieve by it, everyone saw how the team reacted to the singing on Sunday I don't think you can boo a team into playing well. A good atmosphere gives the players confidence nervousness and booing from the crowd just sucks out their belief.

Same for me as the people who read Harry interviews then moan about it.

Why read something you dont like....over and over again, for the sole purpose of bitching? Fucking odd.

There was a reason why fanzines died mate because no one is interested in anyone elses "informed opinion".

I'll make my own mind up about our players and BOO the shit out of them if they dont reach my unrealistically high expectations...I'm Spurs...where the f*ck did you come from????

And yet you're giving as the time of day on a message board. Whether it's a blog or a podcast or a forum, it's still a method of communication. Stop being so overly dramatic you #melt

Needy 'like me' twist? Yeah, because we live for the autograph signings.

ps. I still think you're trolling.

Sorry, keep going back to the OP.

"The holier than thou, super fan bullshit"

You do get that the people telling the ones that don't boo have that hoiler than thou attitude towards it too? Much like you have? Just because you use angry speak instead of the emotive kind doesn't make it any....and why the fuck am I doing this?

Seriously. Laters.

The holier than thou, super fan bullshit that seems to get pushed endlessly on this site is becoming beyond a joke. Two stories on the front page about how bad we are as fans…yeah that’ll help…oh no it wont it will just give every other team a stick to beat us with.

I agree the atmosphere at the ground has faltered, it has been decreasing for years at the lane now and for the last couple it has completely sucked. However this happy clappy pious bullshit just has to stop.

Lets first get one thing straight, the lack of atmosphere has nothing to do with those booing, absolutely fuck all, in fact, the chances are if you cant be bothered to boo, you are not going to be bothered to sing either.

Secondly, this “get behind the team no matter what” shtick, what a load of old cobblers that is. It is up to the team to get the crowd going…not the other way round.

The very reason why the demographic of football crowds are changing, lies squarely at the feet of the players and their spiralling wage demands. We are constantly reminded that the club must charge sky high prices so they can break even; so we are financially viable….fair enough. When you have players on upward of 80K a week, however, the idea that we have to in some way “get behind them” is so beyond laughable its ridiculous. Motivation should not be needed when you're on that kind of wedge.

When you have a man on less than 20K a year paying 1K plus to watch 11 players on 70K/week, do you honestly think that man doesn’t have the right to let his feelings be known when they are not performing???

I couldn’t give a flying monkeys if its counterproductive, if its stupid or moronic. I’m behind him every step of the way. He was probably watching Spurs long before the happy clappers turned up and he will probably be there after they are gone....and he’ll probably still be moaning. Good on him I say.

I expect lots of facepalm smileys, neg rep and the usual lemming like response (interwang pics are lolz) you get on here but I am right….and deep down you know I am. *I ONLY SING WHEN WERE WINNING*

I'm going to give this some more respect then others

It shouldn't be up for the players to get the crowd going that is a 2 way thing. I did an entire essay of the theory of A does B fo C. A being the performer, B being the action and C being the audience. (this was in regards of theatre, but it works for sport aswell) However in football action could easily get the crowd going which then gets the players going. We see that all the time, with wrongfully disallowed goals, no penalties, etc.

Also disagree about if your not bothered to boo, you're not bothered to sing as booing is a negative response to the players and may have a negative effect. The reason why people boo is that they pay a lot of money nowadays and if their team isn't winning and playing to THEIR expectations they will boo. That for me is THEIR own fault and not the teams. When you buy a ticket, you are not buying that ticket thinking that Spurs will win as that is impossible to know that Spurs will win, whilst playing great football. You buy that ticket HOPING your team win and HOPING they play well.

I agree for your reasons to why the demographic of football is changing. That is why I watch a lot of non-league football nowadays.

I can understand people booing at full time (something I've never done at White Hart Lane and something I probably won't do as it won't change anything) Silence I reckon would make more of a statement. Booing at half-time makes no sense to me as proved on Sunday football is a game of 2 halves
