The Problems at Spurs

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Missed the Inter game and read the match thread and others over past couple of days to try and get a feel for what went wrong. However it would have been quicker to watch the whole match as the repetition from some posters saying the same thing over and over again
Kane should not have played was stated by the same poster so many times. Others thought he actually played better but in my opinion he plays in these important matches and Poch would be slated if he did not.
Dier and Davies also took a lot of criticism. However Dier despite being tired is fitter than Wanyama who has not started a match and Sissoko is injured. Dembele could not play as sole defensive midfielder as only played a couple of days ago.
The subs got a lot of criticism but Poch made them earlier than usual. Son is as tired as the rest and clearly needed to not play 90 mins. Lamela also making his first start was possibly not able to play 90 mins. Whilst I understand the criticism of subbing Rose for Kane, Rose has come on late before without criticism to shore up midfield rather than as LB.
The lack of transfer activity continues to be used as an excuse and whilst there is justification in this, we cannot do anything about it and need to put it behind us and confine it to the transfer thread which I am not reading.
The consensus was that we played better but lost.
Reading the massive amount of posts on various threads, it is safe to assume many posters think the club is in crisis.
My biggest concern is the continuing comments from Poch that suggest he is disillusioned.
We have a number of players tired including Son, others not match fit after injury and a difficult away match next followed by a LC match where we will no doubt play a weaker team than the opposition.
The biggest plus is that none of the injuries are long term and Some of the players are getting rests (Dele, trippier, Toby and Lloris) Lamela is getting fitter.
Unfortunately we are not strong enough to rest Kane or Eriksen unless forced by injury but hopefully they will come good soon.
Collectively if the team is not functioning fully as at present it puts a strain on the best players but as others get fitter they can take more of the strain from our 2 stars.
Much too early to panic but as I said Poch's comments are the biggest worry.

Ben and Davinson's confidence seems to have gone to the dogs and their skill with it. In a way I can understand it because both guys put in real good seasons last time around and still they get dropped for two guys that most of us expected to be on their way out. That has to sting.

It's important that Pochettino finds a way to get those two back to their old selfs if we are to compete on multiple fronts all season

I rate Rose way higher than Davies but some of the stuff said about him online last night (Twitter mainly) was unfair.

He's more than capable to rotate with Rose and there would not be a better #2 LB in the league imo.

And even then that doesn't mean he should only play against shite teams in cups. Just means when him and Danny have similar form/fitness I'd give the nod to the latter in important games.

It's like all his work last season has been erased when you look at some fans. Very quick to cast judgement for the smallest infraction.

While that's true, Danny received the same treatment last year. Albeit, he was a bit of a cunt and deserved it a bit more than Ben.

Not sure it was your intention but your post implies Ben is regardless a bit of a cunt and deserved to have since been demoted.

He isn't and doesn't.

Rose has done nothing meaningful to usurp him....

Also see: Toby/Dav & Toby/Wimmer.

Not a side of Poch I am comfortable with.... Tbh.

The question is a fair one. I have previously answered or given my view on it being personnel not obtained during the summer.

On reflection I think a big part of it is that from Pochettino down there has been a sense of expectation that we will be good enough to get at least a top 4 place. An arrogance almost.

This has translated into a lackadaisical approach in games and one where we forget the basics too often, especially when it comes to defending.

Right now we are scraping by. If we do click and we do add in January it might get very interesting.

Not one of our players is anywhere near top form at present.

Lamelas been bang on it.
Serge has been good.
Dele's looked good too.
Lucas is as good as we've had from him thus far.

Yes, we aren't firing on all cylinders collectively whilst some individuals are drastically below par (the latter likely fuelling the former)..

No need for hyperbolic doom merchantry tho'.

January signings or not, I wholeheartedly believe the boys will refind their mojo.

5 wins out of 8... We go again on Saturday.

COYS!

Completely agree.
Read somewhere on the BBC that we have more points at this stage than we did last season and more points vs the teams we've played than last season too.

The new stadium not being open is a fucker, that would've helped morale for all involved, players and fans. But it will be soon and in the meantime, we're ok, we'll pick up form soon.

Watford are a well managed and very honest, hard-working side on the up, we lost to Inter away and a world class goal and let's face it, the dippers have been on fire, we may well beat them when we play again.

The panic, the negativity, the slagging off of players for bad form, all of it is demented rubbish stirred up by the press that's sucked up hungrily by people who love a bit of drama and a moan. Form goes up and down in sport and when you support a club you should be able to deal with it.

Life is pretty good and when we have our new home, it'll be better than it's ever been.

It's sort of like how the media/internet pushed narrative that spurs don't have any trophies (despite being like the club in England the with 5th most trophies) has taken hold even amongst our own fans.

Oh please!!!

It's called wanting and recognising that winning trophies allows us to stand at the top of the mountain and say "we've done it" Nothing wrong with that.

If the height of ambition is just perennial development then good luck with that.

God forbid that free will of a Spurs fan might be similar to a view shared by members of the media.

And Lamela has been good I grant that. No one else in my opinion. Not to the point of singling them out. Even Moura had a 2/3 game burst and has since slipped. We need consistent 7.5/8 out 10 performances to challenge.
