Royal featuring is hardly a justification for any loss of confidence.

We have collectively not been as good as we had all hoped, and since the Villa victory we have been woefully short. Bizarre to think how comfortably we beat them and how tripe we have been since.

Nobody has stood up and carried us forward

Massively disappointing if truth be told.
Exactly. Some of our defensive displays (post Villa ) had he been starting at RB for Porro Royale May have seen us give up less points. Scarily he makes us considerably better in the air on set pieces. Which against Woolwich might be a blessing. The entire team is dysfunctional at the moment Centerforward is crap, Bissouma badly off it, Maddison the same that's most of the spine.

It's not going to be about even an inverted wrongside Royale ruining us or just an inverted Ben Davis. We are a team that tactically have become predictable, and one with significant players in poor form and some like Pape Sarr playing injured. It's a toxic recipe for a bad beating off a good motivated Woolwich team.

Super post. Spot on analysis.

The lack of a striker, with the intermittent performances from Richarlision have bitten us hard but ultimately no team can have 4 or 5 of its players off the pace at the same time.

If they go for it, they will beat us at a canter, febrile crowd or not in my opinion.

I am not unduly concerned at the overall direction of travel but big decisions need to be made and a few lessons need be taken on board for next season.

Caravan day!
We cannot finish below WHU.
Wolves and B'mouth both lost so the worst we can finish is 9th.

4Aston Villa342166
5Tottenham321660
6Newcastle321750
7Man Utd32-150
8West Ham34-948
9Chelsea31947
10Brighton32244

We have gone from challenging for the top 3 places and leaving Woolwich behind to being below a team that were promoted (through the play offs!! They finished closer to 16th than 1st) the season we played in a CL final.

I can’t even bring myself to admit we compete with West Ham again. 1 point from 6 this season!!! WTAF.

Where did it all go wrong!! I blame you for all this Daniel!!!

It took Aston Villa 4 years to get where it took us like 10+ years of “sustainable investment” or some other bullshit financial term like that. :mourweird:

If they don't come unstuck with FFP/PSR, then it's yet another example of the flawed BS we've had to put up with for 25 years nearly.
Aprox one 5th of the club's entire existence.

Even if man United finished above us and won the fa cup it would mean we would be in the Europa league as 6th would be that and 7th conference league and if city win the cup that means 6th would be Europa league also. So as not spurs qualifying for Europe it's pretty much Newcastle and Chelsea that could catch us and that would be us having a complete disaster then last 6 games

With Brighton ..ahem.. unlikely to overcome a 3 goal deficit v City tonight and with WHU unlikely to win all 4 games and overturn a 25 GD difference the worst we can finish is 8th

To be honest, I can't see Villa getting much more than 4 points out of Chelsea, Liverpool, Brighton, Palace.

They have Europa games either side of an away trip to Brighton.
