Big problem they have is that their quality they have relative to others is in decline. The most important players they had where Kroos and Modric who dominated every midfield in the world. They are gone so the relative advantage they had for many years isn’t there any more.
The galaticos best mates, big ego, no tactics ‘off the cuff’ as Bellingham put it requires a technical advantage they don’t have. Either they spend massive on their midfield or they stick with Alonso and kill their ego players.
Their current midfield can obviously grow into being as good as Modric and Kroos. But the question is if the club and fans will be patient enough to see that through (they won't).
