"what on earth are u chatting?"

"I see myself as a midfielder," said Gray to the club website, external. "That is my ideal position but I don't put myself down to one position as I am a versatile player."

He can play RB. He put in good shifts there for us and did well there for Leeds, although the Championship is not the Premier League. He can play CB and up until around the halfway point of last season people were happy with the performances of an 18 year old being played out of position.

And fuck me... are you really criticising a 19 year old, who was playing as a 6 for one of the first times that season as part of a depleted Spurs side against the best team in the league away from home? We had Danso and Ben Davies playing CB...And as for "Gala" (I'm guessing you're talking about Galatasaray) I'm pretty sure played left back if I recall correctly.

Does my head in when our fans use our shit last season as evidence for our players' overall abilities in order to justify their opinions of them, it's purely agenda driven tosh especially when every single one of our players looked bad and particularly since we now have a manager who has a superb track record of improving players and getting the most out them.

He was a useless footballer that would look like shit in any system. Always a few steps behind. Never in the right place. Always giving away the easy turnovers, always putting teammates in trouble by making alibi passes. But sometimes he could pick a long cross and score a goal a season.

No he wouldn't look good in Frank's system. He would look exactly like the useless player he is.

He was one of our best players under Jose and a big reason why we were initially top of the league, saying he was useless is harsh, he had his limitations sure but he wasn't useless at all.

As i see it right now window is a 3/10 , MGW if it happens elevates it to a six. However a high quality DM in promptly will take it to an 8 for me , with a decent CF backup again in reasonably quickly could hit a 9 . Selling Romero knocks 3 points of any score in my opinion .

For a 10 sell Biss ,Richi and Davies and get decent LB

Normally I would expect a score of 6 knocked backed to a 3 with Cuti going late . Hoping the club back Frank so hoping for the. DM and Cuti not going .

Levy may have found his new 3rd party get out , trigger a release clause with a lunatic owner who makes it to much hassle . The ultimate we tried get out

Next few weeks is going to reveal a lot about the CL and PL ambition comment . History tells me don’t fall for it , heart says maybe this time will be different. Come September will I be saying why oh why did I renew again , probably

New cryptic from Prof confirms we're pushing for Wharton:

News first, mate.
It sounds like there’s conflict aplenty.
Highly unlikely but not yet impossible.
Either way we’re showing laudable effort and ambition.

Conflict = war, aplenty = ton
Wtf? Has this guy learned his English from cryptic crossword clues in the Times newspaper? Does he think he’s being smart and evasive? Because he’s actually just being a twat

It’s a mess at palace currently isn’t it with the new part owner coming in from America who is meant to be a terrible owner and their European situation. I suspect players are looking at it and thinking a move wouldn’t be so bad.

Further muttering from COYS, which I didn’t realise. He turned us down in 2024 before going to palace as he wanted game time and didn’t see it with us. Plus they like Bissouma, who I could see there. Would be a good singing for them.

£70/80m the price which feels a lot for a player with his injuries and who is a good player but isn’t amazing defensively. Surely there’s better value out there.

I think that we've got a good squad with some excellent young players who were set up to fail under Ange due to naive tactics. We became very predictable and easy to play against. That, along with injuries, heads dropping, players giving up and banking on a Europa League run was why we finished 17th.

With the right manager I think Top 4 is definitely achievable. Hopefully we continue to improve our starting XI this summer and those odds will go up.

I agree with all of that except the top 4 bit. With the CL and having a squad with virtually no CL experience, as well as the expectation from everyone to lift another cup, I can see us finishing 6th/7th. I would take that though as it would give us a chance to go for the Europa league again in the following season.

50-1 in from 66-1 since the signing of Kudus if you want some?

You could treat yourself and get rid of those piss stained shoes then.

:gallashmm:

How are Manure 35-1? They are a basket case. Anyone wanting to put money on manure I’d give 100-1 and still take the money

According to one of the Spurs reporters (not POK) on X he’s been our main target all summer and we’ve been in discussions for several months. He’s not just jumped on it now, there’s been updates since the start of summer including the amount of money we would and are projected to spend, Wharton bids, players we’re after/have purchased and those linked who we aren’t actually pursuing.

I respect that and 6th/7th would be far more manageable particularly with European football to contend with. It's good to have realistic expectations, particularly when we're coming off a very poor season.

Though in spite of last season, I rate our squad. So whilst I'd be content with 6th/7th considering where we're coming from, I feel like we can do better. Particularly if we're able to upgrade a couple more starting positions this summer.

The injuries are my only concern with him. On the ball he would elevate our whole team. His composure, control and passing range is a step up. Yeh we could go cheaper but likely for far less quality.

The two main options for 6 are Wharton who is elite on the ball or Baleba who is elite off the ball. Either way it’s a huge price tag. I mean we could look at cheaper options like Palhina who I rate but it’s still a drop.

Wharton would sell for 80m or so right? That's what palace would settle for, can't see it being less.

I worry about value. An 80m player has to be truly transformative for a team. Would he be?

I see many other seem to favour a playing type 6 in the cm2 but id much prefer a pure destroyer. A sandro in his prime would do wonders for this team. You could put a pure destroyer next to MGW and have every single ingredient needed to compete.
Last seasons side needed Wharton. Assuming we sign MGW and obv have Kudius so a passer is less necessary as those two are ballers, so I can see where you are coming from. I would love a passer tbh

Yes i agree.

Thing is, baleba can seriously play too he's a beast.
Hes the sort of player that would help us put a stop to being overpowered and played around by the big teams.
Boss mentality.

I think Kudus and MGW help with that too. Far stronger and more physical than say Son and Maddison / Johnson.

Also think a more traditional, defensive structure will mean we are less open. Whichever style DM we get, it will be part of a broader improvement. A 6 is critical tho, unless we have faith in simplifying the game for Bissouma

he played poorly in the position you say is his prime position and did much better in the back 4 so what on earth are u chatting? He played most of his games at Leeds at RB and was a striker in youth football

When he played CDM vs Liverpool and Gala he was in that stranded CDM position but he was weak in the tackle and didn’t close spaces at all, and was robbed off the ball and didn’t have 360 awareness
Frank wanted to sign him at Brentford so will be very interesting to see what the plan for him is next season , I wouldn’t worry to much about last season , we actually have someone in now who can coach our young players and hopefully get the best out of them

I’m not worried, I think he has a good chance of becoming a first team player for us….. just not at DM
