Probably our worst overall squad was the middle 90’s before Ginola and Klinsmann and after Gazza and Lineker. A few gems and sadly included Campbell in that but mediocrity writ large.

When I questioned you originally for examples how high fees and how wages aren’t mutually inclusive …..it’s scenarios like this

suppose it occurs when a player out performs a release clause

If you are offering 550k pw then you aren’t signing mid table players and there is literally only RM and City for them to choose over you. They can’t sign every single elite level player so you will end up signing some
