The thing is, even in the 90's , you know..that period that the hardline Levy enthusiasts like to remind us of, we would sign a top tier player every now and then to get the juices flowing.
We may have been shit for a while, but at least we was shit with a bit of glamour and glitz thrown in. (We never finished 4th bottom with a record number of losses either)
I vividly remember the excitement when we signed Klinsmann. Can you imagine Daniel Levy signing Jurgen Klinsmann?
I can imagine you logging onto here to call it an opportunistic signing of a Monaco castoff, before giving us the latest architectural update.

I think we’re all getting that desperate he’s becoming more and more appealing.

A bit like the two bagger, becoming a one bagger, becoming okish all the way to stunner by the time the DJ plays the erection section!

:ange-hmm:

The thing is we need two creative players IMO, so a loan for JG makes total sense. Obviously I would hope that the other would be Eze or similar , but Levy gonna Levy and Lange is hibernating

I haven't mentioned "fault".

Dane has had a combo of time with the senior team and loans:

Lg 1: 34 apps / 4 G
Chmp: 32 apps / 4 G
THFC (all comps): 22 apps / 1 G

It sucks how little time he got here in the 2nd half of last season, but more broadly what would have been YOUR roadmap for him? (...And by that question, I'm assuming you have something a little more strategic in mind than "Give him 20mins ever weekend and let him sink or swim").

There's been no hint of him ripping up the EPL at any point in his senior career so far.
Starts in 2021 when he is the star of the U18 league, they move him up to close the season in the U21s and he scores 3 goals in 5 games. A star for England at every age grade. Now you decide ... is this someone we see as a future part of the first team or not? Winning things as a group is nice, but I think that is what the main task is for the development side of the club really.

If the answer is yes, you do play him meaningful minutes in cup competitions starting 2022-23 in a decent team that is set up to help him do what he does best. You don't send him on loan to shit teams that never have the ball in the opponents half and where the manager is terrified of losing his job ... something we probably just did to Lankshear, soon no doubt we will be hearing on here that he didn't make the grade, was always overrated blah blah.

In 22/23 we had CL & Conte (and he shit the bed in the 1st round of the LC)....... No way he's getting "meaningful" cup minutes.

But more broadly; all managers fear for losing their job. Stakes is high...... It IS genuinely a problem with youth development at this level.

Bottom line; at 18-20-odd i'd rather kids were out there acclimatizing to men's football than gathering splinters here.........

Why do you always bring this up as a gotcha?

What did Klinsmann win with us?

You go on and on about how fans are just content with whatever bone Daniel throws at us and how dumb they are and then hark back to a situation where 'we may have been shit...but shit with glitz and glamour'.

So do you want to win things or just have the odd marquee signing as long as we don't finish as low as 17th again...?

Running away to hide and changing his name when we won a European trophy emphatically answers your question, BBB.

At this point I'd take JG for depth, but when talking "creativity" neither him nor Eze are especially creative (both are more ball-carriers)...... Career-wise Eze has 65 Gs vs 40 asst..... And the most he's ever clocked in a season is 8 assts.

We really do need someone that can unlock a defense with their passing and provide for the front 3.... Otherwise Dom is going to (understandably) have another (relatively) torrid season.

Other thoughts on Eze.......

Release clause has 5 more days to go....... Anyone get the feeling that the scum are just leading him on to keep him out of the hands of other clubs? .....I mean, for the last couple of years he's seemed a dead cert. for us until they stuck their oar in.

Once the clock strikes he's going nowhere.

"John Thomas" and followers"

You mean like 84% of the vote on here and pretty much similar on any other poll taken in the last 12 months across social media lol.

Don't you also want a change of ownership?

Anyway. Who's John Thomas?
Yes I want a change of ownership as I said but because the present owners do not have the money to invest and not for the other reasons frequently posted. As I do not know your real name, I am left with using the name you used for years. Everyone knows who I mean.
