Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Truly annoying how some have just moved on from what is our biggest win in 41 years...but we didn't win the transfer trophy, that's what really matters.

Aphex Tottenham Massive Tottenham Massive TomHotspur TomHotspur chanting at the next NLD

"We know what we are...
We know what we AARREEEE...
We're not nearly as good as you because you bought better players in summer and stole Eze and let's face it the Europa isn't a real trophy anyway and waaah waaah waaah"

Give me strength...

Nah this is a scandalous window when you look at how much we needed to do and how little we’ve done

Then take into account what our “rivals” have done and it’s a joke. Levy Lange and Vinai should all be booted out of the club before the end of September
Funny! I love a bit of dramatic exaggeration to make a point. And, and as supporters, we need to have our views heard.

So, we should agree, no comparison with the Pochettino no-transfer windows.

Don't forget that comparison with rivals doesn't really apply when we should take into account the arrival of a new manager and significant changes in the hierarchy.

Frank, whom we trust I assume, needed to run the rule over the squad, in collaboration with Lange (as well as Venkatesham), and see them in pre-season action. Who knew Richarlison would do what he did? Who knew Sarr would be making MoM performances? Who knew a Palhinho, Bentancur, and Sarr midfield would dominate at the Etihad?

Arguments that we should have gone earlier in the window miss these facts. But they also miss the fact that we have the fifth highest spending power in the EPL, and the ninth highest in wider Europe, so we'll always be in a market behind the others.

The other thing is that it will take three transfer windows to get somewhere near the senior squad Frank and Lange want.

And, to be clear, I did believe, and continue to believe, we have gaps in the squad that we need to fill. We desperately needed a DM last season and we've filled that. We needed another #10 before Maddison was injured, now we desperately need one.

But this squad is a lot better than we've seen the past couple of seasons. They drug a rank amateur manager to a EL win. We've got a proper manager know, and I suspect we will see pretty much everyone kick up a level or two. The combination of organic improvement and additions such as Kudus, Palhinha and hopefully a proper #10 is going to surprise some who only care around splashy big transfers.

The indecision at CB is a joke as well.

Ben Davies has been a fantastic club servant but we’re 1 VDV injury away from him playing CB in the PL again. It’s beyond incompetent, it’s negligent
I would say this is an even bigger issue as there have been numerous players available this summer that could have come in and been an upgrade on Ben Davies.

Jarrol Hato, Renato Veiga, Himcapie to name 3, all left sided versatile CBs who have/are going to move this summer with absolutely pitiful efforts from us to get any of them.

Same old excuses every time

Nobody is buying any of that anymore

I know mate. Truly embarrassing. At least let them buy you dinner (win something) before sucking them off.
An ever increasing number on here picking Gooner pubes out of their teeth on here. Fuck them.

They win a match? Luck or cheating.

They sign a player? He’s shite and a cunt.

No idea how a supporter of ours can write or even think nothing positive about that shower of cunts that never win stuff.

Incidentally, Phomesy Phomesy throwing right handers round all over the place is very enjoyable.

How do you rate the squad against the other big 6 clubs?

Do you expect this squad to compete for the PL and CL this season? Next season?

It doesn't matter when you keep throwing cheap shite at the wall. Our problem is refusing to pay for the top players and buying, wasting hundreds of millions on dross

Buy cheap, buy thrice.

I just thought you'd be interested in some info surrounding the subject.....

What little point i had was that we're some way off 1.1bn squads being the norm.

We. Should. Be. Building. To. Win. Leagues.

NOT to ‘surprise’ some people and do quite well. To win the league or the CL. That’s the mission. That’s where we build to.

We are nowhere close and not even really seemingly arsed about this. No the squad isn’t awful, yes it has talent, but the owners aren’t bothered about building on it.

And yes, people can cry and bitch about it all they like, the teams people are looking enviously at will almost certainly finish above us again through their investments.

Are we though?
Benny has played 0 games.
Danso has played 2.

He is the first name off the bench.
And very soon Radu will be 2nd one.
We do not have final call on Vuskovic and not much info about Takai.

All we do know for fact is - Davies is NOT the first option after VDV injury.

Spot on mate. Yeah obviously if people are bigging Woolwich up constantly that's one thing, but we need to face reality and I've literally had to put up with so much shit from my gooner mates this summer. They are rubbing our face in it all the time at the moment, not just their fans, their fucking sporting director Berta, Kroenke and Arteta are litterally all mugging us off. Little bro'ing us.

There is no harm in demanding better, and the fact that the scum are doing what they are doing, should bring great shame on Levy, the board and everyone associated with the club, it's a fucking disgrace quite frankly.
There's a massive difference between 'bigging Woolwich up' and simply acknowledging that the squad they have now is going to be closer than it's ever been before to competing at the very top.

So easy just to say 'gooner troll' as a way to make oneself feel better and mask the fact that once again, we've not strengthened our squad as much as it needs.

Danso is right footed and when he’s had to play with Romero previously it’s been clunky and nobody seems sure if Danso or Romero should play left.

Dragusin isn’t fit and has exactly the same issue as Danso

Right? Or you just on a cheeky afternoon troll?

This is what rankles

We’re a quality 10, winger and LB / LcB however you want to slice it away from being well in the mix

We’ve inexplicably missed on all 3 (to date)

That’s the crazy part we are 3 good players away from perhaps competing with Liverpool, Woolwich, City and Chelsea and have so far made an absolute balls of it. We are masters of missing opportunities.

You know fair play to the club for not sacking Ange and letting him stay the season (sacking him meant Ryan Mason) and then sacking him after for Thomas Frank. Two very good calls that have given the club European football and given the club a chance to do well. But then to maybe drop the ball as always around transfers is just same old. It’s frankly a bit boring. I just hope we can get at least Savinho and a 10. I can see a very decent season with that.

For once it would be great if our executive team grew a pair of balls and stopped behaving as if we're some tiny shitty club who need to beg for scraps from the table.

It's embarrassing
Booo! You must be a gooner.

Probably bollocks, but his track record this window has actually been surprisingly decent.

Any time we think we might have turned a corner, you then remember we managed to sign literally fucking nobody one summer when we were at peak Poch.

Come September 2nd we'll have an exasperated Alasdair Gold telling us how Spurs have 'learned lessons' from this window, but we've heard that multiple times over the years. They seem very good at having an inquest after the fact rather than getting the chequebook out and unfucking the scenario at the time.
