We can blame Johnson for yesterday, and Richi has more than enough experience to do better, he just decided to fall over hoping for a free kick.

Johnson scored in those games. He’s a poacher, that’s his job.

Against Burnley it was Gray, Bergvall and Sarr who progressed the ball or we went through Kudus.

Against City we went direct a lot but they were more committed to men forward and we could hold it up 1v1 or flick it on like the Johnson goal.
 
On Morgan Rogers, appreciate he's an unlikely target,

is he a good passer? seems more of a dribbler to me? we're more in need of another player like Maddison who can pick a pass "a lockpicker" if you will.

Hopefully Xavi helps with that.

not sure Rogers is that guy.


Still really hoping on Savinho, Even City fans seem happy enough to let him go.

Probably take the best quality player we can get if it’s a 10 or winger. A winger that can beat a man is still creative. The only thing about Simmons on the left is he’ll drift in. I wouldn’t mind an outside threat especially if Spence is drifting in too, kudus looks to come inside as well.

Johnson is not a poacher, he plays on the wings, and when he doesn't score, offers feck all.

It's mental gymnastics to justify his lazy assed bs.

People are just living in denial to think otherwise.

i think if we don't sign a lw simons will play on the left and cut into the cam role and a player like paqueta or rogers will come in to play in the 8/10 position sarr is in now. i love sarr but i think he was a bit exposed yesterday. would need to re watch but thought he really disappeared and was a big part of our midfield to attack problems. sure richi and johnson struggled in hold up play but sarr was nowhere to be found in supporting them.

I agree. Not sure what the real story is here although I have my suspicion.

He featured in city's pre season friendly on the 9th of aug. The following week no news of injury until the pre match game after news of our interest broke.

Essentially hes had a niggle since the 9th or Aug. Theres no description of his type of injury anywhere out there, its a secret injury.

Foden and cherki injured for today's game.

My hunch is that paqueta is the Cork in the bottle here. Im not going to watch the spammed match but will be interesting to see if he gives any kind of indication that hes off after the match.

Paqueta > villa
Rogers > city
Savinho > spurs.

Thats what im hoping can happen and if not lookman on loan would be a good result.

I still think we need a more robust 8 in games like yesterday to link the defence and attack. Palhinha and Bentancur is too static. Sarr isn't good enough on the ball. Paqueta would really help.

Tbh Bergval should be used in these games going forward. He's the perfect profile and I think Frank has underused him so far. He definitely looked our best midfielder yesterday.

I love Bentancur and Palhinha but in games where we want to dominate the ball and create chances, we can't play them together. We need someone like Bergval (or a signing like Paqueta) to play in that 8 role and link the defence to the attack.

Can I ask why so many are talking about Morgan Rogers? Is there any valid reports that this deal is even remotely possible? I'm just surprised that his name keeps being brought up. I haven't seen any independent journalist mention this deal being on.

I assume Rogers starts for Villa tonight and then the deadline is tomorrow. So I really can't see how this is even close to being a runner unless I've missed something. I'd have it at under 5%.
