I’m 25, I fully remember what united used to be like. Those green and red Nike T90s Rooney wore back then are permanently etched in my mind. I was 13/14 when they genuinely began to decline, and I genuinely got into the club at about 8, or at least my first membership pack was 08/09. I’d argue it’s the American fans who got into football circa 2017, 2018, 2019 that this applies to.

I can believe that £70m bid for Mbeumo tbh, if you spend £60m on Richy and £65m on Solanke, then £70m isn’t some massive stretch.
Perhaps not, and I obviously want him backed and with input on the players being brought in.
But "damn the torpedoes, outbid United for this one specific guy I am connected with and is the perfect fit for my ideas" is exactly what we DIDN'T hire with Frank.
We hired a guy who could make a functioning team out of whatever value the recruitment staff could identify in the market to maximize our funds. Which is what he did at Brentford.
I just don't see Mbeumo for 70M and big wages as maximizing our funds. We could get Eze or Xavi Simons or Rafael Leao for that money and I think those are better footballers.
Would people rather 70m for Mbeumo or 80m for Wharton?
80 on Wharton or 50 on hjalmund

Mbeumo is a cracking player, but spunking 70 mill of our budget on him doesn't make a lot of sense. Our wide attacking players are not a squad weakness.
Need Eze or another creative profile.
But if Frank really does want Mbeumo here, i'm all for supporting the new boss
Exactly mate, that's what I mean about them playing a different game to us. It's only 35m of a transfer fee but the difference in the whole deal is way beyond usThey also pay them double the wages that spurs pay their players

It’s absolutely a weakness: Johnson is ideally a supersub, Son is on his last legs, jury’s still out on Odobert and Tel and imo Kulu is simply too slow to ever be an elite winger and that’s why he’s probs best at that number 10 spot.
