Well if he said it, he gave me the stick himself and said take a swing at me . If he didn’t say it I have found a random stick and beat him with it for no reason.

Of course they struggle. It’s a conversation about our model of trying to do it.
We do try to do it and we have done it. We just don't have a 100% success rate - but who does?

Replacing Modric and Bale was only necessary because the club signed players with Ballon D'or potential in the first place.

The thing that some of the not-so-big clubs are starting to do well is to get a player to fit the system, so the system suits rotation and replacing players better (Brentford and Brighton as the obvious examples). Historically, big clubs tended to sign good players and then struggle to replace those one-off players, such is why I think Chelsea would have a season as champions, then slump back to 8th, yo-yoing constantly.

I can’t believe the whinging on social media that Eze is not what we need. I don’t think people realise how mental our schedule is.
Not what we need?? Then who do they think we need?

We need a hell of a lot to be fair.

But in that position, we just need to ask ourselves the question: Do we think Madders is a playmaker that will bring us a PL- or CL title?

If the answer is NO, we need an alternative.

Brentford and Brighton being held up as examples only works if you don’t have a goal of winning trophies.

They are successful business models no doubt. It’s yet to be seen if you can actually win like that.

I think the main issue is historically it is either/or with us. Eze is great but we badly need a top DM and RW plus ideally some form of cover left back. If we can do that and Eze then great but it remains to be seen.
That's what we as fans think we need. But not necessarily what Frank think we need.

Brentford mostly played a 4-2-3-1 last season. If he wants us to play that as a first choice formation, we probably need a DMC or two.

But maybe he thinks our squad is better off with another formation, and therefore has different targets.

Personally i'm stubborn when i look at our fullback options, and say we are better equipped to play with wingbacks. All of Porro, Spence, and Udogie are wingbacks not fullbacks. All of them are comfortable on the ball, and good going forward. But are all more or less awful defending.

Personally i want a fullback to be able to defend first and foremost.
