Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I know Thomas Frank is being described as being tactically flexible and can tailor the system to the players he has at his disposal, but for example Nørgaard as a big dominant player in the midfield has survived a long time in his Brentford squad. It will be interesting to see if once he has assessed the squad we look to sign a player or two of this type.

Frank can’t do exactly what he did at Brentford, who had a small budget and needed to keep a core of players together around their young ones they were looking to develop. I think he’s smart enough to know he has to approach this job differently, whilst bringing certain core ideas he developed there.

Good thing Frank is flexible ,as I see it Levy is already bending him over

He looks ok but we have enough players who could be stars. There is enough potential in our squad, anymore and the balance is off!

We are in the CL, what we need to compete to win it and the PL, is bonifide stars now.
Sure but if the money or the will is not there to pay those wages than we just have to ask what profile of player will make this squad better. Players who can pass the ball forward and keep possession under pressure are what we are lacking at the moment.

If the money or the will is not there, then really what difference will it make?

Signing another potential isn't taking us anywhere in the next 3 years by which point we will be out of the CL and any of the previous potentials who did develop will be looking to leave. And on the cycle will go.

Alistair Gold was saying how impressed everyone was with Veliz’s finishing after the first few weeks. Let’s not exaggerate . It hasn’t worked but he’s not Ali Dia.
I loved Veliz when he came on as a sub and did his hammy (or another leg muscle) and then hopped around the field on one leg for minutes wanting to help whilst the bench shouted at him to get on the ground for the medics to have a look.

It wasn’t smart, but it demonstrated what his heart was - he wanted to be successful. That is half the battle (talent is the other).

I don’t think Veliz is good enough for us (the only goal I remember him scoring was pretty lucky) but I wish him well. He definitely needs a new challenge.

So many Spurs fan cannot seem to "feel" that most all of the social media rumours are, well, just rumours

They aren't only reacting to this summer tho are they?

If we are all being honest here, they are reacting to 20 odd years of lived experience under these owners. The difference is that the Chairman told us to expect different this summer because we want to win the PL and CL.

When you mix the extra expectations he CHOSE to set and the lack of faith built by his actions in the past, you can see why the majority feel a mixture of apathy, anti-climax, and sinking dread when it comes to this summer?

Worth a reminder that Frank will still not have met half the players - those who have been playing internationals in June not due back until end next week start of following week.

Hypothetically lets suggest that Frank has watched lots of videos of Richarlison and also seen his injury/playing history and decided its best if he can be moved on. Richarlison may be of the belief he can stay fit and thinks playing CL is best way for him to stay in Brazil squad. So it might require a face to face meeting with Frank where Richarlison is told he will not be playing much and best to move on ..... which Richarlison may be reluctant to accept.

Players have agency (ie players need to agree transfers out) so provisional work to move him on may have begun, but until player says yes it cannot be concluded.

And we have a full squad (2 players too many to fit in CL already) so transfers out will be a brake on concluding transfers in.

We are still less than half way through transfer window, so chill.

If you make things up in your head then you can only blame yourself, not the world.
