I think if we had a squad that was much further down the line and we just needed a little bolstering then fine, kudus could be that guy.

But we need proven quality, not hedged bets. If a club like us have say 150m to spend then we have to make every move stick. Of course nothings a given with any player you sign but kudus has literally downed tools at spam and his temperament is iffy. We need somebody we know we can count on not a project to try iron out major kinks out of the game of a 25 year old.

His stats do not make for good enough reading to warrant a 60m+ outlay given the potential risk. I would bet that johnson would outscore kudus pretty much every season because where johnson lacks the flash dribbling ability he makes up for with solid basics and goalscorer instincts that can't be taught.

I really would rather johnson be our starting winger than kudus. I know we would need a backup but it's not worth it. Perhaps go big for the lw instead for a dribbling creative forward to play more of a supply role.

I would much much rather go mega on a cm/dm, keep romero and really get the team being very strong and stable defensively even if we lack goals a little and then build from that solid base then to blow our load on somebody else the fans will be begging to be sold in a couple of years.

Given we already have a good finisher in Johnson, surely a talented dribbler like Kudus is the perfect complement to him?

Don't shoot the messenger, but this is what my mate at the papers is hearing rumblings of

Son to USA.
New contract for Romero. Will be captain and our higher paid player (more than Kane).
New contract Bentancur.
Seymenyo or Kudas preferred over Eze. Eze to expensive since we already have Mads and Kulu.
Dragusin wants first team. If Romero stays, he's gone.

Defense of the top priority. Don't be surprised if we start playing some very defensive football in preseason.

Levy wants to win the premier league this season.
The last line is beyond funny, if he wants to win it then go back the manager.

Glad to hear we hope to convince Romero to stay.
Won't miss Dragusin.
Prefer Semenyo over Kudus , as every spammer I know detests him, nDombele mark 2 by all accounts , lazy as fuck.

Where is our no.6?

Kudos scored 8 goals and has 6 assists in 2023/2024 season, in 33 games (6 as sub).

Last season, 5 goals and three assists, in 32 matches, just one as sub.

I think Moyes leaving and Potter coming on may have had an effect on him, but I don't really know.

I did think that he played very well against us, and when i have seen him play he does have great close ball control skill and can beat a man better than anyone we have at the moment.

Good addition, just twenty four and still room to develop and a player Frank could improve, and obviously PL proven.

Blah Blah Blah Whatever GIF by Minions

At just a year older than Rice, eighty million for Bowen sounds about right.

If Levy had the cahooners and bid that i feel sure Sullivan would take it.

Bowen would basically fix our front line, can shoot, can assist, can dribble, can press, can hold up the ball all to great standard. I’d take him over Mbeumo or Chuna. I’d love us to try it but can’t see it, can’t see us throwing £80-90m.

I understand what you're both saying and I half agree with both of you. I just don't see it being worth our while. I agree kudus is type of player missing from our attack but spending big beans on him is a punt imo. 8 goals and 6 assists is probably the best he will ever see. Semenyo whilst being more expensive would be a much safer pirchase BUT I understand Bournemouth are asking too much so we are looking for cheaper.
I'd even argue that we would be better off going cheaper again than kudus and going for someone like bakayoko (40m ish?) instead and add any money saved towards a cm/dm.

Kudus just screams middle road that will not satisfy either end of the spectrum yet will cost alot.
He will not be a talisman, a leader, somebody that takes our attack to a whole new level adding experience. (Raphinha, rodrygo)
Nor is he an uber talentented younster that is going to become that player (barcola, doue)

And before anybody laughs at those player examples I gave then let me just say...

Raphinha with 2 years on his contract.would be the perfect type of player to lead a team like ours, and 2 years on his contract.
Rodrygo could be on the market and if so there's not many that could afford him, we SHOULD be one of them. If scum can despite having multiple players over 150k then we sure should.

Doue and barcola we both had a chance at if we went hard enough, soon enough.

Under Moyes he scored 14 with 8 assists.

Potter is different gravy.

Frank would improve him.
Why cant we just spend the extra £18m and get Eze? a player you know is going to be transformative.

Rather than this vague notion that Frank might be able to wave a magic wand and turn a very mid player into the real deal?
For the sake of £20m transformative vs. gamble

Its always this way with Levy
This is why we aren't a serious club
