He wouldn’t be a bad signing but it’s underwhelming that this is where we’re fishing after qualifying for the CL.

He’s just a good PL player. We’ve targeted these in the past and it doesn’t really work to move the needle. We’re targeting him after a bad season for a reason.

I like Kudus but it sets the tone a bit for this window - this isn’t the kind of transfer that gets us closer to Woolwich or Chelsea.
 
Who starts our first game as 10. Aren’t Maddison and Kulu injured and expected to miss the first few weeks? I haven’t seen the medical reports.

I’d like to point out again that we should be getting another 10 AS WELL as a RW and DMF. I don’t believe we can’t afford it. It’s just the will of ENIC and Levy is lacking.
We know Maddison is only going to play 60-80% of games at best.
Kudus (who I’m not against, he has that Brazilian samba boy about him, but he can’t be our only decent signing. )

For a total spend $214m

Sell Romero (if he won’t sign new contract) $60m (minimum imo)

Should get around $100 mil

Net spend $114 mil or thereabouts and we get three quality players. Wouldn’t mind raising that to $150 mil and get a striker.

Point is it’s doable for a club like Spurs. We can afford the wages also.
Levy talks the talk about winning the epl and ecl but he refuses to walk the walk by taking the required actions to get such success. It’s ironic when you think about it because success brings financial rewards that helps pay for itself. He can’t see that, or doesn’t believe it.

I wish Spurs could sign him, but he wants the Man United deal. Probably down to the fact Man U pays far more than Spurs. If it were just a matter of meeting the transfer fee it would be achievable. I really like Mbeumo, but the only hope at this point would be if the deal between Man U and Brentford broke down, which probably won't happen.

Trippier was £3.5m, where’d you get £20m? Incredibly worth it even if his 18/19 is one of the worst seasons I’ve ever seen any player have. (Tottenham seal Kieran Trippier signing from Burnley on five-year deal)

Lucas Moura cost £25m (Lucas Moura joins Tottenham from Paris Saint-Germain on five-and-a-half-year deal) and wasn’t on this list for some reason, got 39 goals in all comps over 5 years, whilst Lamela only got 37 in all comps in 8 years.

While I’m on the topic as well, Lamela to me is a 2* at best; he was always injured, had basically no goal threat (be honest him scoring was always a surprise) and he cost £30m when that type of money at the time could get you a Hazard or Mane. He was on the ‘will sell for the right offer’ list for like 5/6 summers but no one in Europe wanted to come close to what we spent, and rightfully so.

I'd consider all of those to be top players - unfortunately last season we could only keep 3 of them fit on a consistent basis. And when the backups are Grey, Werner, Odobert, Bergvall, Moore, Davies, Reguilon, Dragusin, Bissoma - you can seem why we fell off a cliff last season.

Out of that lot, I'd actually say Son, Porro and Sissoko were the stand outs. Sissoko wasn't pretty, but he put in a good shift and was part of the squad that was key to getting us to a champions league final.

Not often I can say I agree with you, harry7, but I do here. People often rate these players on what they can occasionally produce rather than what they consistently do (or have). And I say that with Micky being a player I love to watch (when he's fit) - he's excellent in some aspects but has a fair bit to improve when it comes to e.g. his box defending, using his physical presence, not going to ground too early. Still 24yo so has the time to keep developing.

Porro's greatest asset besides his passing is his fitness. Hopefully Frank plays his fullbacks wide to get the best out of them - the inverted nonsense was painful at times.

buddy I ain't trying to catch you out. Since you're so vehemently against Kudus, I'm fascinated in knowing who you'd target.

I personally think both/either Semenyo and/or Kudus, would be great signings, and I prefer them both over Eze.

My knowledge of the world game is limited, but I can't think of many players with better attributes for what we need, attainable or unobtainable.

So who would you target?

It's not really a trump card, for the sake of the debate there ought to be someone on your wishlist who in your opinion is a viable alternative, it's not a gotcha and you don't even have to be a pro scout or an agent to name another player.

If you really think we 'can do better' who do you have in mind?

And Bowen is not going to stay at Wham forever

Throw in £80m plus CL and decent wages he will be agitating for a move

So Wham who need to sell offer us a player they do not want and the little bald one is all over the deal

Levy doesn't see that Bowen is a game changer in term of goals/assist and would transform our front line.He is not a football man ,all he see is price/wages/age/sell on value

So Kudus it is ...doesn't matter he is a average inferior player but should be enough to placate a restless fan base that will lap up any signings

These people just never learn

Lamela’s injury’s were a massive issue but he was an excellent team player. Yes he didn’t score goals but did a good job closing gaps, winning the ball and moving it quickly to better attackers. Moura was just a maverick, erratic and unpredictable

For me 3 of those are past their sell-by-date and at least another 4 are to inconsistent imo. No where near capable to challenging for CL spot, let alone playing in it.
