Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

league form was shit and unacceptable but it its clearly fact that we binned off the league to win the Europa League.

I don't know why people can't just accept that. From February onwards we were resting our best players in the league and prioritising Europe. The proof is in the fact that Romero and VDV played no league games together!

I know you hate Ange and don't rate him. I'm not an Ange aplologist. I'm glad he's gone. But I really don't know why people can't accept that reality that we did bin off the last few months of the league to win the Europa. Romero said it himself in an interview. Thats why the squad were still so united after 22 league defeats, they were all focused on Europe! We were using the league games to rotate the squad and keep players fresh. Hence why the bad league form didn't make the squad turn on the manager. They were all focused on Europe!
They both started against Chelsea and Forest you numpty.

Frank hasn’t even seen the squad yet, it’s understandable that we’re moving slowly and cautiously in the transfer market.

I expect once he has some experience with the boys we will be more decisive and sign a couple of good players to compete for starting 11 spots.

Did he not watch any Premier League football in the last few seasons then?

I'm jesting but he will know the squad and who he wants and doesnt and would have said at interview.

Ally Gold said on his video last night his understanding is that Kudos is a player of interest, but all this noise is from the West Ham side drumming up interest because they need to sell. So i doubt we're really after Kudus

I just dont see us spending the amounts spoken about on one player this summer. It's why I'm finding it hard to get that excited. I'm not convinced we will sign the correct players at lower sums either.

and many of us said then it was a bid that we knew would be turned down. It was a fake transfer offer.
I liked it when we tried to sign five Spanish strikers on deadline day once, we were running from one to the next like headless chickens and ended up with none.

I don't think it's that complicated but you're making it more complicated by having him over someone who covers a gaping hole on the other side of the pitch.

I also think him and Maddison will be taking up a lot of spaces on the same pitch as Eze likes to drift inside and wants a lot of touches on the ball. If you want to pay him as a 10 then he doesn't have the quick release or the passing range or playmaking ability as a natural 10 - he's more likely to carry the ball and hold onto it and tbh we already have Kulusevski for that.

He doesn't really solve many problems and probably creates more problems in our team.

I think the idea of Eze sound good in a lot of people's heads yet when it comes to the actual football no one really has any idea where he's going to play or what role he is going to cover.

I dunno man I just think with Eze he gives off a lot of Dembele vibes with our fanbase which our fans are yearning for more than anything.
the left side isn’t any stronger than the right. What’s needed is finding the best players we can in the final third, whatever position. kulu/Johnson/odobert compared with Tel/Odobert/Son isn’t a gaping hole. There’s no stand out there at the moment.

Good players like to play with good players and have good players around them on the same wavelength. Maddison and Eze would gel fine. Just like De Bryne, Silva or what would happen if he went to Woolwich with Odegaard. They are not going to stand on each others toes. Maddison comes deeper anyway, they will both find the spaces.

when Maddison is not available we really missing that ability to beat a man in central areas and break lines and open up space

I have a thought that just came out of my arse so might be shit. I keep hearing well we waste ‘60m on this guy, £60m on that one, we pay for average, why can’t we spend better’. But isn’t this simply the result of our club size plus business model

1 we can’t do a Brighton who do buy for resale and therefore can use an entirely data driven system to pick young players then sell them to Chavs for massive money and repeat. Brighton are about 1/4 our size as a club so the expectations are vastly lower and they have a set plan. We are also not a selling club, we only sell when forced like Kane or Bale.

2 We are big and showed we are big with 1/4 of million fans celebrating the EL as well as filling up Wembley for two seasons, something few fanbases could do but we are not big enough to have vast numbers of player desperate to come no matter how bad we are like United.

3 our business model is about keep wages low and never on any deal overspending. This means we always limit the pool of players within our price range so yes we can do £60m but it’s £60m on a player for £150k per week not £220k per week. This also means our squad is far less competitive so less likely to attract players even excluding money. This is why Man City can often pay £30m for players better than our £60m players.

So in effect we have put ourselves in a situation where we will often have to overpay because the range of player available is far more limited both below and above us. We will of course get good deals like Maddison for £40m but the Richy, Solanke, Johnson type deals will often occur unless we become insanely good at scouting and getting deals done.
