PSR was bought in to stop clubs overspending beyond their means and getting into trouble. To counter that clubs can now sell their women’s teams, hotels, car parks and canteens to themselves, at any cost they decide. It’s a farce and it’s ruining the game.
No one gives a shit until it’s too late, by then they’ll punish one team and not others. God help we tried something like it, the FA, FIFA, UEFA, NASA, The White House and Putin would have us folded.
True, though buying younger players to limit wages (on a per-player basis, not in the aggregate) has been a part of Chelsea's strategy too.
Honestly, of all the peer clubs that are leaving us in the dust competitively, Chelsea is probably the one I am least worried about. They are maxing out the buying of player after player at the expense of a lot of other factors that go into having a winning football team.
On current ENIC business practices we'll be nowhere near, but I don't really see another orgy of signing every U23 talent on either side of the Atlantic narrowing the gap to the clubs above them, and they are going to keep having to sell good players to keep making it work.
