Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If Romero stays there’s a very good chance we do nothing except maybe sell Ben Davies and Son. I’m sure Frank would like to get a good look at Bissouma before sanctioning a sale, too. If a save could be made there that’d be amazing for us, and I’ve good reason to believe that it could.

We are dying right now but as soon as Frank knows what he wants to do I expect we’ll see a flurry of activity playing our usual catchup. Good news is thanks to Frank foresight this is hopefully the last catchup we have to do for awhile…

I don't get the whole "Frank wants a look at players" narrative.

Most of the guys in question have been playing PL ball for as long time. He should have an idea of what they are. Would be skeptical if a few training sessions changes his mind.

Does it occur to you that Frank wants a certain type of right winger….Mbeumo was allegedly first choice but doesn’t want us. Probably Kudus is his second choice so why blame Levy? Both can play right and centre, with Kudus even more adaptable as regards his position. The way he played the season before last I bet most fans would have eagerly wanted him.him
Oh they did, absolutely screaming for him last Summer.

Ideally serious LB competition and a DM

If I’m greedy replace Richi with an upgrade , not sure 4 Incl Kudus is realistic. No reason it should be impossible but I’m trying to be balanced. We obviously need to get a few out to make space so I will settle for 2 more in
I can legit see Frank keeping all of Benta, Gray, Bergvall and Bissouma as part of a 2 man CDM pivot brigade, especially if he senses Levy is unwilling to spend on a clear upgrade. If he goes 3 at the back with wing backs 2 CM will be a very natural move.

A first team level 6 is not even a want it’s an absolute necessity at this point. The entire window would be a failure if centre midfield is not addressed.
I am interested to see how good Bentancur, Bergvall, Sarr and Gray will be under Frank in a double pivot (assuming Bissouma is going to be sold). All CMs looked pretty terrible under Ange as it was by far the hardest position to play in his system (EL knockout stages aside). I particularly like the look of a Bentancur / Bergvall double pivot. Whilst I hope we do sign a deep lying playmaker who knows how to shield the back 4, it would not be a disaster if we did not get one this window.

The window is not looking too shabby now is it? Not all the players are back for pre-season and we have made some fairly decent signings:

IN:
Kudus - £55m
Tel - £30m
Danso - £21m
Vušković - £12m
Takai - £5m

OUT:
Højbjerg - £17m
Reguilon - Released
Forster - Released
Whiteman - Released
Werner - End of Loan

I know some will scoff at some of those 'ins' as we already had Tel and Danso on loan since January. But the fact is they were not made permanent until 1st July and we only start paying for them now, so still come out of the kitty this summer (and the next 4 years - 20% per year - after this summer).

I do expect some outgoings (sales or loans) from our attacking players. Will also be interesting to see if Frank plans to convert either Johnson or Tel to a central ST.

Son / Tel / Odobert / Moore / Gil --- Solanke / Richarlison --- Kudus / Johnson / Kulusevski / Solomon

We should hijack the gala deal for osimhen i honestly believe with him and kudus we will have 2 amazing talents up front. Game changing even osimhen would be a fool to waste his prime years for gala no offence to em he could play for any team in europe

I know it's not fashionable to say around here but I don't actually think a double pivot with our existing options of Sarr/Bergvall/Bentancur/Bissouma is a particularly bad set of midfielders to choose from in a traditional double pivot setup.
As you say, none of them could handle the 6 in an Ange system but even Rodri would struggle in that shit show.

Bentancur and PEH were a pretty decent 2 for a while and we still have Bentancur and although PEH was/is a good player he was not anywhere near the best midfield of his type in the league at the time

I could see him playing Johnson cutting in on the left and getting on the end of things now that we have a dribbler on the right.
I know I thought that too, everybody seems so focused on the need for opposite-footed wingers to cut inside, does that mean Johnson plays on the left now?

Is Tel a LW or a CF? Are Sonny and Richy LW, CF, or out the door?

Are Kulusevski and Odobert (and I guess Kudus) wingers or #10's?

How is Frank going to set us up? Is it going to change week-to-week?

It's hard to know the answers to any of these questions!

I dont think so. Kudus will either look to cut inside and shoot or supply dom and the lw with crosses into the box, and that's where johnson excels.
I'm actually think lw was where frank wanted to sign brennan for at brentford but that's just a hunch more than anything.
He’ll be attacking crosses with his weak foot. It makes zero sense. He’s also quite upright and doesn’t go inside, then outside - his tactic is run outside the defender, just doesn’t work on the left
