You go into work every day, play most matches, contribute to the team with goals, assists, clean sheets, whatever, and look over the other side of the dressing room and see Timo Werner pocketing £180k+ per week for sitting in the stands, and occasionally failing to hit a cows arse with a banjo, you're well entitled to ask questions, whether he's going to be around next season or not.

A player is going to look at what he's getting paid in relation to what his peer is getting paid, they don't care about the long term accounts of the club. Even with Werner now gone, a player could quite easily go into contract negotiations now and say "well you were happy to pay Timo x amount, and I'm more valuable to the club so I should be paid this much" and to me that would be perfectly reasonable.

Doesn't mean the club have any obligation to do so, or that any players will do that, but the whole Werner thing is utterly baffling and the club potentially made a rod for our own back with it.

I'd say the club have countered that by dropping our wage/revenue ratio so low, as it then gives them scope to increase the wages of those players that ARE actually delivering on the field. We have history of rewarding high performing players with improved contracts. I also think we've initiated that rather than sitting on what they already have and waiting for them to approach the club looking for an improved contract.

We may not be the highest payers, but we do reward performance when it's warranted.

We're quite fortunate in a way that following last season, not many in the squad could be hammering on Levy's door demanding an increase in recompense!

Hopefully the Werner debacle is a distant in a few months when they're all tearing it up...

I have a theory, though how close to the truth it might be is anyone's guess.

Forest are holding out on this to ensure that they can get their replacement(s) over the line before they are seen to be having a windfall of cash, which may well drive the price up.

We've seen that, allegedly, they've offered £25M for McAtee, when City are quoting £40-50M. If Forest have that £60M burning a hole in their pocket, along with the Elanga money, it may well make it harder for them to squeeze any value out of a McAtee deal, or for any other player they may be in the market for.

We've done this in the past ourselves, particularly with the Bale money. We got in his replacements, whilst constantly taking the position that Bale was not for sale, then sold him once we had those players in.

None of these fuckers deserve it after last season, pretty sure Levy isn't afraid to increase salary if its warranted anyway.

I expect to see a load of new contracts this season regardless as I think our players will improve under Frank.

You think they can get away with pretending MGW isn't leaving during the current media coverage, in order to hoodwink another club into selling them a MGW similar player for less money???

Let's hope for Forest's sake that nobody at Man City is following the football news too closely in the off-season then!

No we would not have been relegated. If we had been in danger of that we would have had to take the PL more seriously and would have got more points. It could well have meant we would not have won the Europa. It was a calculated risk by Ange that paid off.

Agree. The price is the price. Selling clubs won’t give you a discount in case you don’t sell MGW

They might charge you more if they know you have 60 big ones burning a whole

I think Ange made it up in hindsight. It was never mentioned or implied from January until after the final. Totally made up bullshit to save face.
