Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Next weekend we play Luton i so will not be flying anywhere next week - likely early following following week.

We have a full squad already - 37 players listed in preseason squad ( including yoingsters) so likely to sell a net 2 or 3 players. So this idea we will not sign players later is just out of your head - not routed in any reasoning. Not to mention last summer we signed Odobert after the start of the season ( he played his first game of the season for Burnley)
Holy shit, so you're saying that my opinion came from my head? That's incredibly fucking perspicuous of you.

Not routed in any reasoning? I stated my reasoning. You might not agree with it but that doesn't dismiss its presence.

In summary. Shut the fuck up and watch your tone.

Now this is the TFC I remember and adore.

PSA: I wouldn't recommend Google searching for "cunt off" gifs. Not unless you're safe at home with some tissues and lube, that is.

Thank fuck. The clamour to sign this guy was weird as fuck
Think it's more the fact he's capable cover for a position we need covering along with being club trained.

There's four club trained spots that basically allows another homegrown/non home-grown player to be registered (per slot, 4 max) in the Champions League (as far as I'm aware) signing a Cirkin or KWP means we have cover for left back in a pinch along with space for another player to be registered also.

Absolutely nobody on this forum thinks either are good enough to push Udogie for that role but it's a fuck tonne better than shoehorning Gray or spamming Micky's hamstrings as well as having an extra spot for another player.

Obligation or not, the transfer was carried out this Summer, it's still money going out for the player who was originally a loan but is now fully COYS.
Well if you get pedantic, only some if the money is going out this summer. Payment in installments is so common, that I don't think when money is paid is a relevant standard these days.

For me it's when the commitment to take a player on a permanent transfer is contractually agreed between both clubs and player. In Danso's case, that was January.

In the absence of publicly available understandings of how exactly the payment structures work on every deal this definitely seems like the best way to do it to me as well.

That said, all the aggregators of this information book the fee in the window when the obligation triggers rather than when it was made, which to me is a not as good but also not totally insane methodological choice, so I've kinda just accepted thinking about it that way.

Essentially we bought Danso for Summer 2025 and got a "free sample" of a half season.

(It definitely leaves lingering questions of how exactly it works with player contracts and the like but oh no I've gone cross-eyed)

I do often wonder why there's such a lack of transparency about financial transactions in football.

If fairness, and not gatekeeping, was the real intention of FFP and PSR it seems pretty simple to require that transactions be fully transparent.

To be honest Will, I don't really care when he was signed, just that he was signed 😜
