Letting in goals was the bigger problem. Not in the PL.
Do you really not get it?
We finished 17th for a reason.
One of the reasons is that a lot of PL teams had better front players than us..
If our front players perform as they did last year - we will do badly again.
Which again, is a breach of contract. Only way it isn’t is if the release clause is only feasible for a period of time.No they didn't City were quoted much higher than the release clause which is why they pulled out.
Oh dear.
Palinha fits exactly what we need and and 25-30m is a very fair price. That si euro too so probably around 20m Sterling.
My only concern is that he is coming off the back of a poor season and given he is now 30 years old, I hope his best days aren't behind him. The Fulham version from 2 seasons ago would be an unbelievable signing.
We need CMs who can pass the ball and receive under pressure.
Palinha is neither of those.
Hes a good ball winner for a team that sits deep and looks to counter.
At 30 it would be as meh as meh gets imo

Palhinha was a beast at Fulham, literally dominated the midfield in games.
We do miss that profile though. I agree that he's very limited playing through the lines though so would need Bergval/Bentancur/MGW or someone else to drop deep and help with the build up play. But having him sitting while our fullbacks bomb forward does make me feel more comfortable. He will snuff out danger and stop a lot of transitions. We basically played the last decade without a proper DM who's sole purpose was do to that.We need CMs who can pass the ball and receive under pressure.

It’s a load of bollox is what it is
If city really bid over the RC, MGW would be a city player
I agree. On the ball and playing through the lines he is very limited so we will need another midfielder to do the build up play for him. But he is a proper ball winner and destroyer and I would feel much more confident having him in the team when we are on the front foot with both full backs bombing forward. He would be the ideal profile to break up any counter attacks. He’s an insanely limited footballer but can do a job.
Fulham version won’t really exist in the same way for us because we won’t be playing that way as an underdog 90% of the time where we need a pure defensive midfield type who sits.
Let's see which fish bite.
We need a deep lying playmaker who can read the game. The days of the water carrier type that just sits there but offers nothing else feels about 20 years out of date.

It was initially used as an insult by Cantona to describe Deschamps. But yeah Paulinha is just a limited blocker and very underwhelming. To me; "water carrier" would be Dembele...... Paulinha is just a basic disruptor that breaks up play.
